Eligibility Criteria:

Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the specified eligibility criteria. The BPSC has outlined specific educational qualifications and age limits for these posts.

Nationality

  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • Only permanent residents of Bihar are eligible for reservation benefits.

Essential Qualifications (Common for All)

  • Candidates must have passed the Bihar Special School Teacher Eligibility Test (BSSTET), 2023. (Paper-I for Class 1-5 and Paper-II for Class 6-8).
  • A valid Central Rehabilitation Register (CRR) number issued by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) is mandatory at the time of application.

Educational & Training Qualification

For Special School Teacher (Class 1-5):

  • Minimum 50% marks in Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent.
  • AND D.El.Ed. in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution, along with a valid CRR number.
  • OR A certificate/diploma equivalent to D.El.Ed. in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution.
  • A six-month teaching training in the cross-disability field is also required.

For Special School Teacher (Class 6-8):

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks.
  • AND B.Ed. in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution, along with a valid CRR number.
  • OR A B.Ed. degree along with a certificate/diploma equivalent to B.Ed. in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution.
  • A six-month teaching training in the cross-disability field is also required.

(Note: A 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks is applicable for SC/ST/EBC/BC and Divyang candidates.)

Age Limit (as of 2025)

The age will be calculated with the cut-off dates of 01.08.2025 for the minimum age and 01.08.2023 for the maximum age.

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age (Unreserved Male): 37 Years
  • Maximum Age (BC/EBC – Male & Female, Unreserved Female): 40 Years
  • Maximum Age (SC/ST – Male & Female): 42 Years

Age Relaxation:

  • A special relaxation of 10 years in the upper age limit is provided to trained candidates who passed the BSSTET 2023, applicable for this first recruitment transaction.
  • Relaxation is also applicable for Government employees, Ex-Servicemen, and Divyang candidates as per Bihar Government norms.

BPSC Special School Teacher Salary & Benefits:

Selected candidates will be offered an attractive monthly salary. The pay scale varies based on the teaching level.

  • Special School Teacher (Class 1-5): ₹25,000/- per month
  • Special School Teacher (Class 6-8): ₹28,000/- per month

In addition to the basic pay, other allowances and benefits will be applicable as per the rules of the Government of Bihar.

BPSC selection process:

The selection of candidates for the BPSC Special School Teacher post will be based on a single-stage written examination followed by document verification.

  1. Written Examination (Objective Type): Candidates will have to appear for an objective MCQ-based written test.
  2. Merit List: The commission will prepare a merit list based on the marks obtained by candidates in the written exam.
  3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. Final selection is subject to the successful verification of all required documents.
  • There will be no interview for this recruitment.

Written Exam Pattern

The exam will be conducted separately for both posts. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

For Class 1-5 Teachers:

  • Total Questions: 150
  • Total Marks: 150
  • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Structure:
    • Part-I (Language – Qualifying): 30 marks (English and Hindi/Urdu/Bangla). A minimum of 30% is required to qualify.
    • Part-II (General Studies): 120 marks (Primary Maths, Mental Ability, General Awareness, General Science, Social Science, Indian National Movement, Geography, and Environment).

For Class 6-8 Teachers:

  • Total Questions: 150
  • Total Marks: 150
  • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Structure:
    • Part-I (Language – Qualifying): 30 marks (English and Hindi/Urdu/Bangla). A minimum of 30% is required to qualify.
    • Part-II (General Studies): 40 marks (Primary Maths, General Awareness, General Science, Indian National Movement, and Geography).
    • Part-III (Concerned Subject): 80 marks (Candidates choose one from: Maths & Science, Social Science, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, or English).
