Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has inaugurated the sixth edition of Ganga Utsav 2022 in New Delhi.

The Ganga Utsav is being developed as a model for River Festivals with the aim to connect people to the rivers.

Objective – To celebrate rivers and spread awareness on the significance of river rejuvenation across river basins in India.

Exp. KSRTC Grama Vandi won national recognition

The city circular service of the Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has won the national ‘Commentation Award in Urban Transport’ in the category of ‘City with the best Public Transport System’.

The ‘Grama Vandi’ was launched by the KSRTC in association with local self-government institutions and has also won Award of Excellence in Urban Transport.

The awards was instituted by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry.

Exp. Madhya Pradesh government launched Ladli Laxmi 2.0

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched the flagship scheme ‘Ladli Laxmi 2.0’.

Objective – To encourage girls to pursue higher education and make them independent.

Chouhan launched the ‘Ladli Laxmi’ scheme in 2007 after he became the Chief Minister for the first time in 2005.

They will also provide monetary benefits to eligible girl children to ensure quality education.

The scheme had also ensure that the parents must not marry their girl child before the age of 18.

CM has also announced ‘Ladli Laxmi Vatika’ (garden) that will be developed in every district of MP.

Objective – To showcase and sell handicraft products

The exhibition includes 108 stalls for beneficiaries of top corporations to showcase and sell their handicraft products.

The products include metal craft products, wooden craft products, cane and bamboo items, ceramic products, handlooms and textiles, among others

Exp. Arunachal Pradesh’s Hollongi Airport renamed as Donyi Polo Airport

The Union Cabinet has approved the change of name of the Greenfield Airport at Hollongi, Itanagar. The airport will now be known as “Donyi Polo Airport”, Itanagar.

The new name is aimed at reflecting Arunachal people’s reverence of the Sun (Donyi) and the Moon (Polo) and symbolizes the rich cultural heritage of the State.

The airport is being developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) with assistance from the Central Government and the State Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The airport was developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at a cost of Rs 646 crore.

It is the third airport of state after Pasighat and Tezu airports.

Exp. Education ministry released Performance Grading Index for 2020-21

The Ministry of Education has released the Performance Grading Index (PGI) for States and UT for 2020-21.

Objective – To promote evidence-based policy-making and highlight course correction to ensure quality education for all

A total of seven States and Union Territories namely Kerala, Punjab, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh have attained Level -2 grading in 2020-21.

Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh are the new entrants with the highest achieved level.

Union Territory Ladakh has made significant improvements in PGI from Level 8 to Level 4 in 2020-21.

Exp. UIDAI launched new chatbot ‘Aadhaar Mitra’

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched the new AI/ML based chatbot, ‘Aadhaar Mitra’ for better resident experience.

The new chatbot has enhanced features like check Aadhaar enrollment/update status, tracking of Aadhaar PVC card status, and information on enrollment centre location.

Residents can also register their grievances and track them using the bot.

Also, UIDAI has been again placed at the top amongst all govt depts for resolving public grievances for Oct 2022

Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh has unveiled the booklet ‘Agenda for Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions for Rural Development”.

Through this booklet, information about all the schemes such as MGNREGA, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojna, etc. will be available to the general public.

It will be made available at each Gram Panchayat in the country.

Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav will lead the Indian delegation to attend the 27th Session of the Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27).

The Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) scheduled to be held at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 6th to 18th November 2022.

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has conducted First Floating Financial Literacy Camp of India in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar.

Objective – To promote Financial Literacy ‘By the women, for the women’

It was launched with an initiative called ‘Niveshak Didi’.

This concept is based on the ideology of women for women as rural area women feel more comfortable to share their queries with a female itself.

What is Niveshak Didi initiative?

Niveshak Didi initiative is implemented based on the concept of “by the women, for the women”.

This concept believes that women in rural regions are more comfortable sharing their queries to other women.

It was launched by IPPB, in collaboration with Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), which comes under the aegis of the Union Corporate Affairs Ministry.

Exp. KV Kamath appointed as Independent Director of RIL

Reliance Industries (RIL) has appointed K V Kamath as the Independent Director of the company for a period of 5 years.

Kamath has also been appointed as non-executive Chairman for Reliance Strategic Investment Limited (RSIL).

The company plans to rename RSIL to Jio Financial Services (JFSL) after the de-merger of financial services operations.

Kamath is currently the Chairman of the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID)

Kamath, 74, was the first president of the New Development Bank set up by BRICS countries.

Before that, he served as chairman of Infosys, the second-largest Indian IT services company, and as the non-executive chairman of ICICI Bank, India’s largest private bank

Kamath also served as ICICI Bank’s MD and CEO from May 1, 1996, until his retirement in 2009.

Exp. Indian men’s squash team won gold medal in Asian Squash Team Championships

In Squash, Indian men’s team has clinched their first-ever gold at the Asian Squash Team Championships.

They defeated Kuwait in the final in straight sets in Cheongju, South Korea.

It is the biggest win of Indian Men’s Team since they won 2014 Asian Games Gold.

The Indian men’s team has won three silver medals in the Asian Team Squash Championships and seven bronze medals
