Exp. Shri B.P. Singh Assumes Charge as Director General of Naval Armament (DGONA)

Shri B.P. Singh assumed charge as Director General of Naval Armament (DGONA) at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi.

He is a 1994 batch officer of the Indian Naval Armament Service (INAS) and succeeded Shri Divakar Jayant after distinguished service.

Before this appointment, he served as Chief General Manager of Naval Armament Depot (NAD), Mumbai, bringing over three decades of experience in the Naval Armament Organisation.

Droupadi Murmu dedicated four women-centric schemes in Delhi: Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme, Saheli Pink Smart Card, Meri Poonji Mera Adhikaar, and the Free LPG Cylinder Scheme.

Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana replaces the Delhi Ladli Scheme; eligible girl children will receive ₹61,000 in instalments, which will grow to over ₹1 lakh by the age of 21 with interest.

Saheli Pink National Common Mobility Card will provide free travel for women in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, replacing the earlier pink ticket system.

Meri Poonji Mera Adhikaar scheme ensures that funds from the old Ladli Scheme are transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible girl beneficiaries.

Under the Free LPG Cylinder Scheme, ration card-holding families will receive money in their bank accounts to purchase LPG cylinders twice a year—during Holi and Diwali.

Exp. Unified Payments Interface Transactions Dip 6% in Volume and 5% in Value in February 2026

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions in February 2026 declined 6% in volume to 20.39 billion and 5% in value to ₹26.84 trillion compared to January’s 21.70 billion transactions worth ₹28.33 trillion, mainly due to fewer days in February.

Despite the monthly dip, average daily transactions increased to 728 million worth ₹95,865 crore, compared to 700 million transactions worth ₹91,403 crore in January.

Utsav Charan Das, the renowned Ghoda Nacha artist and Padma Shri awardee, passed away at the age of 80 in a private hospital in Choudwar, Cuttack, leaving a deep impact on Odisha’s cultural community.

Born in Mania village and raised in Choudwar, Das dedicated his life to Ghoda Nacha from Class VIII, promoting the traditional folk dance nationally and internationally.

His lifelong dedication to preserving Odisha’s cultural heritage was recognized with the Padma Shri award in 2020, and he used his art to raise awareness on social and health issues.

Exp.EPFO Retains Employees’ Provident Fund Interest Rate at 8.25% for FY 2025-26

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has retained the interest rate on EPF deposits at 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26, the same rate as the previous year.

The decision was taken at the 239th meeting of the Central Board of Trustees, chaired by Mansukh Mandaviya.

This marks the second consecutive year at 8.25%, continuing a trend where the EPF interest rate has ranged between 8% and 8.50% over the past few years, with minor fluctuations.

Exp. RBI and Bank of Japan Sign Third Amendment to $75 Billion BSA to Strengthen Financial Cooperation

The Reserve Bank of India and the Bank of Japan, acting as agents for Japan’s Finance Minister, signed the third Amendment and Restatement Agreement of the Bilateral Swap Arrangement (BSA) for up to USD 75 billion.

Effective from February 28, 2026, the BSA is a two-way arrangement allowing both central banks to swap their local currencies in exchange for the US dollar.

The RBI stated that the BSA aims to strengthen financial safety nets, deepen India–Japan financial cooperation, and contribute to regional and global financial stability.

Exp. India and Canada Sign Uranium and Critical Minerals Pacts

Narendra Modi and Mark Carney finalised key pacts on uranium and critical minerals supplies and agreed to work towards a comprehensive economic partnership, aiming to raise bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2030.

The two leaders pledged to enhance cooperation across defence, critical technologies, small and modular nuclear reactors, education, and renewable energy, highlighting strong mutual trust and positivity in India–Canada relations.

Under the agreement, Canada will support India’s civil nuclear energy sector through a USD 2.6 billion uranium supply deal, strengthening India’s energy security and clean energy initiatives.

NITI Aayog and Japan International Cooperation Agency signed the Record of Discussions (RoD) for Phase II of the Japan–India Cooperative Actions towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on strengthening development interventions in Aspirational Districts and Blocks.

The initiative aims to deepen India–Japan collaboration in achieving SDGs through institutional capacity-building, improved governance systems, and localising SDGs at the district and block levels under the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) and Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP).

Key project activities include capacity-building exchanges, Japan–India knowledge forums, dissemination of best practices, and targeted support across six themes: global partnership, health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development, and basic infrastructure.
