Palak Muchhal Enters Guinness World Records for Funding 3,947 Life-Saving Heart Surgeries for Children
- Singer Palak Muchhal has entered the Guinness World Records for her remarkable humanitarian work, having funded 3,947 heart surgeries for underprivileged children through her Palak Palash Charitable Foundation.
- In 2013 alone, she raised over ₹2.5 crore, enabling 572 children to undergo life-saving heart operations—her musical performances directly contributing to saving lives.

DoPPW Mandates Permanent Inclusion of Daughters’ Names in Govt Employees’ Family Records
- The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has clarified that the name of a daughter must never be deleted from the family records of any central government employee or pensioner, to prevent future disputes and ensure fairness in pension benefits.
- Under Rule 50(15) of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021, every government servant must provide complete family details (spouse, children, parents, disabled siblings) in Form 4 and update them whenever there is a change in family status.
- DoPPW stated that even if a family member’s name was not recorded earlier, the pension claim should not be rejected if eligibility can be established, ensuring protection of genuine beneficiaries.
- Keeping daughters’ names permanently on record aims to improve transparency, prevent legal disputes, streamline pension processing, and ensure uniform application of rules across departments.

- Jharkhand celebrated its 25th Statehood Day (16 November) with vibrant cultural programs across major cities like Ranchi and Hazaribag, showcasing the state’s unique tribal heritage.

DFS Launches Startup Common Application Journey on Jan Samarth Portal to Streamline PSB Credit Access
- Department of Financial Services (DFS) launched the Startup Common Application journey on the Jan Samarth Portal during the PSBs review meeting in New Delhi.
- The platform, developed by IBA in collaboration with PSB Alliance, offers startups a single digital window to apply for loans, compare offers, and track applications across all public sector banks.
- Backed by a Model Loan Scheme, startups can avail loans up to ₹20 crore under the Government’s Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (DPIIT).
- The portal integrates data sources like PAN, GST, Udyam, ITRs, and credit bureaus, ensuring faster processing, transparency, and includes special interest concessions for women entrepreneurs.

- Oman has been elected to the International Coordinating Council of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme for the term 2025–2029, highlighting its growing influence in global environmental sustainability.
- The election reflects Oman’s dedication to balancing development with ecological preservation, aligning with Oman Vision 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- As a Council member, Oman will contribute to objectives such as expanding protected areas, conserving biodiversity, supporting climate research, empowering youth researchers, and promoting sustainable practices globally.
- Oman has already added Al-Sareen Nature Reserve and Al Jabal Al Akhdar Landscape Reserve to the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves, demonstrating its proactive approach to ecosystem conservation and sustainable development.

RBI Announces Comprehensive Trade Relief Measures to Support Exporters Amid Global Tariff Disruptions
- RBI announced major trade relief measures to support exporters facing disruptions due to global headwinds and tariff-related challenges, including relaxations under FEMA regulations for export proceeds and advance payments.
- The time period for realisation and repatriation of export value has been extended from 9 months to 15 months, and the shipment deadline for goods against advance payment has been increased from 1 year to 3 years.
- Exporters have been given financial relief through moratoriums on term loan repayments and interest recovery on working capital loans (for dues between September 1 and December 31, 2025), along with permission for lenders to reassess drawing power and reduce margins.
- RBI has extended export credit repayment timelines from 270 to 450 days and allowed liquidation of packing credit through alternative legitimate sources when shipments could not take place; all guidelines are effective immediately.

DRDO Unveils Next-Generation Man-Portable Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for Advanced Mine Countermeasure Missions
- DRDO’s NSTL Visakhapatnam has developed next-generation Man-portable Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (MP-AUVs) designed specifically for mine countermeasure missions, enhancing underwater defence capabilities.
- Each AUV is equipped with Side Scan Sonar, underwater cameras, and deep-learning–based target recognition, enabling real-time detection and autonomous classification of Mine-Like Objects, reducing operator workload and mission duration.
- The system features robust underwater acoustic communication for inter-AUV data sharing, and successful field trials at NSTL/Harbour have validated key system parameters and mission performance.

- Padma Shri awardee and renowned environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka passed away at the age of 114 in Bengaluru, leaving behind an inspiring legacy of grassroots environmental conservation and afforestation.
- Born in Tumakuru district with no formal education, she worked as a casual labourer in a quarry before dedicating her life to planting and nurturing hundreds of trees.
- Along with her husband Bikkala Chikkayya, she planted 385 banyan trees along State Highway 94, often walking long distances with water to ensure the survival and growth of the saplings.
- Honoured with the Padma Shri in 2019 and recognised in BBC’s 100 Influential Women (2016), Thimmakka became a global symbol of environmental activism and community-driven afforestation efforts.
