Exp. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, eight beaches of India have been recommended for the Blue flag certification. The selection of the beaches was made by an independent national jury composed of eminent environmentalists and scientists.

About Blue Flag certification- The Blue Flag certificate is an internationally recognized eco-label given by ‘Foundation for Environment Education, Denmark’. Blue Flag beaches are considered the benchmark for clean and hygienic beaches in the world.

This announcement was made by the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Prakash Javadekar on 18 September during a virtual event.

List of eight beaches selected for Blue flag certification are

Shivrajpur in Gujarat

Ghoghla in Daman & Diu

Kasarkod in Karnataka

Padubidri beach in Karnataka

Kappad in Kerala

Rushikonda in Andhra Pradesh

The golden beach of Odisha

Radhanagar beach in Andaman and Nicobar

Exp. “Swachhta Pakhwara” is being observed all over Indian Railways. Swachhta Pakhwara’ is being observed all over Indian Railways from 16th to 30th September 2020. During the inaugural day of Pakhwara, Swachhta pledge was administered to Railway employees at all Zonal Railway HQs, Divisional Offices and other establishments.

Aim:  To create awareness for keeping the railway premises clean and safe including Covid-19 related precautions and webinars are also being organized.

Exp. The ministry of corporate affairs has extended the tenure of the Company Law Committee by one year to September 2021. The committee, constituted in September 2019, is now chaired by corporate affairs secretary Rajesh Verma.

It was set up to suggest measures to de-clog and improve functioning of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and make recommendations on various issues pertaining to implementation of the Companies Act as well as the Limited Liability Partnership Act.

Exp. Former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Anil Dhasmana has been appointed as National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) for two years on 19th September.

NTRO is the country’s technical body which looks after geospatial intelligence and satellite imagery. The appointments have been made by a committee headed by PM Narendra Modi.

Exp. In a first in the history of the Indian Navy, two women officers have been selected to join as ‘observers’ or airborne tacticians in the helicopter stream.

Sub Lt Kumudini Tyagi and Sub Lt Riti Singh will be the first women airborne combatants in the Indian Navy who will operate helicopters onboard warships.

They will be the first women officers who will be deployed on Navy warships as part of the ship’s crew. The entry of women was earlier restricted to fixed-wing aircraft that took off and landed ashore.

From previous studies, an average of 2 out of 3 people globally have little or no understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and associated dementia in their countries.
