“Global Good Alliance for Gender Equity and Equality” launched by WEF and GOI

The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting was held on 15-19 January 2024 at Davos, Switzerland where India’s participation with the ambitious aim of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” was appreciated by the world forum. The theme of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting was ‘Rebuilding Trust’.

Indian Delegation:

The Indian delegation led by Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister of Women & Child Development and Minority Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Housing & Urban Affairs and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & IT, Shri RK Singh, Secretary, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry and other senior officers of the Government of India at the World Economic Forum 2024.

The government of India launched the “Global Good Alliance for Gender Equity and Equality” with the support of the World Economic Forum at the annual meeting at Davos.

Objectives:

The main objective of this Global Alliance is to encourage women -led development around the world and also provide a platform to the world’s best practices to share knowledge and bring investments in the field of women’s health, education, and enterprise.

The Global Good Alliance for Gender Equity and Equality is inspired by the commitment of G20 leaders and the initiatives under the G20 framework, the Business 20, Women 20 and G20 EMPOWER.

More about this Global Alliance:

There are also some industry leaders who will provide support to this Global Alliance such as Mastercard, Uber, Tata, TVS, Bayer, Godrej, Serum Institute of India, IMD Lausanne, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and over 10000 partners from the industry. The World Economic Forum will work as Network partner of the Alliance and Invest India will work as an ‘Institutional Partner’. This Global Alliance is anchored by the CII Centre for Women Leadership.

Conclusion:

This Global Alliance is the first ever women leadership lounge (We Lead lounge) by CII and BMGF led by Union Minister of Women & Child Development at the World Economic Forum 2024. This We Lead lounge welcomes the much needed conversations and spreads a message of prosperity at Global level powered by women of the world.
