ISRO launched successfully Chandrayaan-3
The most awaiting ISRO’s mission Chandrayaan-3 has been launched by ISRO from the main spaceport of Andhra Pradesh successfully.
Chandrayaan 3, has been launched on July 14, is the follow-up moon landing mission of Chandrayaan 2 by ISRO. Chandrayaan 2 had been launched in 2019 but it was resulted into an unsuccessful mission.
India’s space has launched a mission that will land the lunar South Pole next month. South Pole is an unprecedented feat that would advance India’s position as a major space power.

Rocket: LVM 3 M4
Launch Mass: 3900 kg
Launching Site: Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Andhra Pradesh

Launching vehicle:
Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft has been launched with Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark III or LVM III that has injected the Lander Module and Propulsion Module into Moon’s orbit.
The mission has three main sequence called, Earth centric phase, lunar transfer phase, moon centric phase.
The Earth centric phase regards launch and earth-bound trajectory of the launch vehicle.
Lunar transfer phase regards transferring the vehicle from Earth’s orbit to lunar orbit.
The last sequence regards landing the Lander Module (LM) and Propulsion Module (PM) onto the moon surface.
There is a different lander, propulsion and rover payloads in the spacecraft that will do scientific experiments to understand lunar surface and atmosphere. The technologies deployed in the mission will also assist conduct for other inter-planetary missions.
Moon landing:
Somnath, ISRO Chairman has stated that the landing might be took place during the last week of August. The estimated moon landing dates are August 23 to August 24.
The mission will last 14 days when the sun will shine on Moon. During this period, the six payloads will experiment on surface plasma, thermal properties, seismic activity, chemical composition and elements in the surface and atmosphere around Moon.
Importance of the mission:
The closest cosmic body to earth is ‘Moon’. During the launching of Chandrayaan-2 ISRO stated that space discovery can be attempted and documented easily to the Moon. It was also described as a promising test bed to demonstrate technologies required for future deep-space missions.
