The International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI) 2024 has been held in New Delhi India. This is the 6th edition of this international conference.

The ICDRI is an annual conference and in this meeting various Government organizations, global institutions, Infrastructure stakeholders, prominent media around the world are presented and discuss the Important and essential aspects of disaster and Climate Resilient Infrastructure.

This conference is organized by Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

Theme:

The theme of ICDRI 2024 is “investing today for a more resilient tomorrow”.

Objective of the conference:

The objective of this international conference is to promote resilience in Infrastructure so that they can effectively face Disaster and Climate Change.

This conference ensures to build a global community from around the world to encourage resilient Infrastructure projects.

Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI):

This Coalition was launched in the year of 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the UN climate action summit in New York to promote a resilient Infrastructure system by encouraging research and knowledge sharing for mitigating climate and Disaster risks and further ensure sustainable development.

There are various global multi- stakeholders in the CDRI such as UN agencies, multilateral development banks, Governments, academic and knowledge institutions and others.

The Headquarter of CDRI is in New Delhi.

There are around 39 members in CDRI including 31 countries, 6 international organizations, and 2 private sector organizations.

To set up CDRI, around ₹480 crore financial support was provided for the period of 5 years from 2019-20 to 2023-24.

Disaster-resilient infrastructure is crucial for minimizing the impact of natural disasters on communities. It ensures continuity of essential services, saves lives, reduces economic losses, and enhances overall resilience against future events. Additionally, it fosters sustainable development by promoting safer and more reliable infrastructure systems.
