  • Now the climate turns into an economy. As per the India Employment Report 2024, around 45% of the population is engaged with agriculture work and this sector contributes most of the country’s labor force.
  • The recent climate change issues affected the agriculture sector as these heavy rainfalls come for short duration, increased rainfalls, affecting crop sowing, irrigation and harvesting.
  • If we talk about the world’s green energy transition, water plays an important role. As per the UN report, around 75% of natural disasters in the last two decades are related to water.
  • India needs an effective water governance with policies and recognition.
  • India needs to promote water Accounting and efficient reuse of blue and green water across the country through judicious use.
  • India must encourage the financial tools to raise money for climate adaptation mostly in the water sector.
  • One of great initiatives in India is the Green Credit Programme that incentivizes people, firms and companies to participate in environmental activities. We need more initiatives like this.
