20 Killed in Firecracker Factory Explosion in Andhra Pradesh; ₹20 Lakh Ex Gratia Announced

  • Twenty workers, including nine women, were burned alive in a huge explosion at the Sri Surya Firecrackers factory in Vetlapalem village, Samarlakota mandal, Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Nine other workers suffered serious burn injuries and are fighting for their lives, while two injured persons are said to be out of danger.
  • All the workers who died or were injured were from nearby villages.
  • The explosion happened at around 2:30 p.m., when 31 workers were inside the factory.
  • Nineteen workers who had finished their morning shift had left during lunch break.

Nine cheetahs from Botswana released into Kuno National Park

  • The group includes six female cheetahs and three male cheetahs.
  • With this arrival, the total number of cheetahs in India has increased to 48.
