26 Cases Filed Against Baba Ramdev in Kerala Courts Over Misleading Ads

• A total of 26 cases have been filed in various Kerala courts against Baba Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, and Divya Pharmacy, the marketing arm of Patanjali Ayurved, for violating the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
• The information was disclosed in an affidavit submitted by Kerala State Drugs Controller (in-charge) K. Sujith Kumar to the Supreme Court on February 20, in response to a case filed by the Indian Medical Association.
• The affidavit also stated that registration of five additional cases is delayed due to lack of cooperation from newspapers that published the alleged misleading advertisements.
• Since 2016, the State Drugs Control Department has initiated 116 cases against various companies for violations of the same Act.
