 ‘Vocabulary’

  1. Astuteness (noun)

Meaning: exceptional discernment and judgment especially in practical matters (चालबाज़ी)

Synonyms: shrewdness, acumen, sagaciousness

Antonyms: stupidity, vacuity, witlessness

Sentence: He was a political observer renowned for her astuteness.

  1. Acclimatize (verb)

Meaning: to change (something) to make it suitable for a new use or situation (अभ्यस्त बनाना)

Synonyms: acclimate, accommodate, adapt

Antonyms: misadjust

Sentence: Runners had to acclimatize to the humid tropical conditions

  1. Imperceptibly (adv.)

Meaning: in a way that is so slight, gradual, or subtle as not to be perceived. (अगोचर रूप से)

Synonyms: crescively, gradually

Antonyms: abruptly, suddenly

Sentence: The disease develops gradually and imperceptibly.

  1. Lambent (adj.)

Meaning: (of light or fire) glowing, gleaming, or flickering with a soft radiance. (उज्ज्वल)

Synonyms: beaming, luminous, glowing

Antonyms: dim, dull, dark

Sentence: The lambent flames from our campfire cast a comforting glow.

  1. Esurient (adj.)

Meaning: having a huge appetite (लालची)

Synonyms: edacious, gluttonous, greedy

Antonyms: glutted, sated, satiated

Sentence: It would be silly to leave your esurient brother in charge of the three dozen cupcakes you baked for a birthday party.

  1. Quibbling (noun)

Meaning: the action of raising objections about a trivial matter. (आपत्तियां उठाना)

Synonyms: criticizing, niggling

Antonyms: approving, supporting

Sentence: He spent the entire evening quibbling about the historical inaccuracies in the television series on World War II.

  1. Upheaval (noun)

Meaning: a violent or sudden change or disruption to something. (उथल-पुथल)

Synonyms: disruption, disturbance, disorder

Sentence: The company underwent a massive upheaval after the takeover.

  1. Ternary (adj.)

Meaning: composed of three parts. (त्रिगुट)

Synonyms: triad, triplet, trio

Sentence: The code used to represent information with a ternary number.

  1. Quietus (noun)

Meaning: death or something that causes death, regarded as a release from life. (मरण)

Synonyms: death, decease, demise

Antonyms: birth, nativity, existence

Sentence: After weeks of suffering, the cancer-stricken cat received a quietus of the pain by taking her final nap.

  1. Pantomimed (verb)

Meaning: express or represent (something) by extravagant and exaggerated mime. (अभिव्यक्त करना)

Synonyms: gestured, signed, signalized

Sentence: The clown candidates pantomimed different emotions.
