  1. Decrying (verb)

Meaning: publicly denounce. (निंदा)

Synonyms: denounce, condemn, criticize

Antonyms: acclaiming, applauding, praising

Sentence: The prophets weren’t decrying the ritual of the temple.

  1. Farcical (adj.)

Meaning: relating to or resembling farce, especially because of absurd or ridiculous aspects. (बेतुका)

Synonyms: ridiculous, preposterous, ludicrous

Antonyms: serious, logical, believable

  1. Ordeal (noun)

Meaning: a painful or horrific experience, especially a protracted one. (अग्नि परीक्षा)

Synonyms: nightmare, trauma, painful experience

Antonyms: comfort, joy, peace

Sentence: He was subjected to a terrible six-day ordeal.

  1. Mercurial (adj.)

Meaning: (of a person) subject to sudden or unpredictable changes of mood or mind. (अस्थिर)

Synonyms: volatile, capricious, temperamental

Antonyms: changeless, constant, immutable

Sentence: The boss’s mood is so mercurial that we never know how he’s going to react to anything.

  1. Appertain (verb)

Meaning: relate to; concern. (संबंध रखना)

Synonyms: pertain to relate to, concern

Sentence: The answers generally appertain to improvements in standards of service.

  1. Quaint (adj.)

Meaning: attractively unusual or old-fashioned. (विचित्र)

Synonyms: picturesque, charming, old-fashioned

Antonyms: fashionable, modern, stylish

Sentence: A quaint general store on one of the back roads of Vermont.

  1. Bequeath (verb)

Meaning: leave (a personal estate or one’s body) to a person or other beneficiary by a will. (वसीयत)

Synonyms: will, makeover, pass on

Sentence: He bequeathed his art collection to the town.

  1. Scorch (verb)

Meaning: burn the surface of (something) with flame or heat. (जलाकर राख कर देना)

Synonyms: burn, sear, singe

Antonyms: hydrate, wash, dampen

Sentence: Surrounding houses were scorched by heat from the blast.

  1. Notorious (Adj.)

Meaning: well, known for something bad (कुख्यात)

Synonyms: Disgraceful, Infamous, Shady

Antonyms: Honourable, Reputable, Respectable

Sentence: He is notorious for her wild behaviour.

  1. Concise (Noun)

Meaning: A grant of money (financial aid) especially from Govt. (आर्थिक सहायता)

Synonyms: Allocation, Aid, Assistance

Antonyms: Denial, Refusal, Repudiation

Sentence: The NGO is funded by an annual subvention from the government.
