  1. Ponder (verb)

Meaning: as in to contemplate (चिंतन करना)

Synonyms: Consider, question, contemplate

Antonyms: overlook, slight, dismiss

Sentence: He stopped to ponder the question.

  1. Scuttle (verb)

Meaning: as in to scurry (भागना)

Synonyms: run, hurry, rush

Antonyms: dally, drag, linger

Sentence: The children scuttle across the street.

  1. Petulant (adj.)

Meaning: as in irritable (चिड़चिड़ा)

Synonyms: irritable, grumpy, fiery

Antonyms: friendly, good-natured, gregarious

Sentence: His critics say he’s just being silly and petulant.

  1. Nab (verb)

Meaning: as in to grab (दबोचना)

Synonyms: grab, catch, snatch

Antonyms: miss, release, free

Sentence: A pickpocket nabbed my wallet

  1. Caveat (noun)

Meaning: as in warning (चेतावनी)

Synonyms: warning, alert, admonition

Sentence: He agreed to the interview, with the caveat that he could approve the final article.

  1. Ably (adv.)

Meaning: as in masterfully (चतुरता से)

Synonyms: masterfully, capably, skillfully

Antonyms: unskilfully, incompetently, inefficiently

Sentence: Steven has summed up our concerns very ably

  1. Abstemious (adj.)

Meaning: as in ascetic (संयम)

Synonyms: ascetic, ascetical, abstinent

Antonyms: greedy, rapacious, self-indulgent

Sentence: He is abstemious in life.

  1. Abstruse (adj.)

Meaning: as in esoteric (अव्क्त)

Synonyms: profound, recondite, ambiguous

Antonyms: simple, straightforward, shallow

Sentence: Your statement is a bit too abstruse.

  1. Refrain (noun)

Meaning: stop oneself from doing something (रोकना)

Synonyms: abstain, desist, hold back

Antonyms: take in, consume, ingest

Sentence: couldn’t refrain from ruffling her nephew’s neatly combed hair whenever she saw him

  1. Aught (noun)

Meaning: as in nothing (कुछ भी)

Synonyms: nothing, zero, naught

Antonyms: all, multiply, everything

Sentence: Let us see if aught cannot be done for her.
