‘Vocabulary’
- Negate (verb)
Meaning: to declare not to be true (इनकार करना)
Synonyms: deny, refute, reject
Antonyms: allow, acknowledge, confirm
Sentence: He warned that to negate the results of elections would only make things worse.
- Depose (verb)
Meaning: to remove from a position of prominence or power (निकाल देना)
Synonyms: dethrone, displace, remove
Antonyms: appoint, install, elect
Sentence: Military deposed the dictator after he had bankrupted the country.
- Vitriolic (adj.)
Meaning: marked by harsh insulting language (कटु)
Synonyms: abusive, insulting, outrageous
Antonyms: moderate, civil, temperate
Sentence: He braced himself for another vitriolic dressing-down by his displeased father.
- Drawdown (verb)
Meaning: to make complete use of (पूर्ण उपयोग)
Synonyms: spend, consume, drain
Antonyms: replace, renew, enforce
Sentence: I drew down my bank account just paying for tuition.
- Quash (verb)
Meaning: to put a stop to (something) by the use of force (रद्द करना)
Synonyms: suppress, subdue, destroy
Antonyms: help, support, back
Sentence: The company tried to quash the unwanted publicity.
- Fortitude (noun)
Meaning: the strength of mind that enables a person to endure pain or hardship (सहन-शक्ति)
Synonyms: courage, stamina, bravery
Antonyms: Irresolution, timidity, vacillation
Sentence: She bore her illness with great fortitude.
- Tardy (adj.)
Meaning: thus far progress on the project has been tardy (विलम्बी)
Synonyms: slow, dilatory
Antonyms: rapid, speedy, hasty
Sentence: Two of the pupils were tardy this morning.
- Wistful (adj.)
Meaning: showing or evoking a sad longing for an often idealized past (उदास)
Synonyms: nostalgic, dreamy, sloppy

- Fledgling (noun)
Meaning: a person who is just starting out in a field of activity (अनुभवहीन मनुष्य)
Synonyms: novice, newcomer, beginner
Antonyms: expert, master, professional
Sentence: At hockey, he’s still a fledgling and needs to work on his basic skating skills
- Incumbent (noun)
Meaning: one that occupies a particular position or place (पदधारी)
Synonyms: officeholders, inductees, awardees
Antonyms: prospects, contenders, competitors
Sentence: In general, incumbents have a 94 percent chance of being re-elected.
