Uttar Pradesh Launched Safe City Project : ensures women safety

Recently Uttar Pradesh government launched a significant project namely Safe City Project to ensure women safety in the state.

The Uttar Pradesh government’s Safe City Project makes efforts towards enhancing women and girls safety and security across the state. This comprehensive initiative aims to leverage technology like surveillance through CCTV cameras to create environments that are not only secure but also women and girls across the state feel safe while studying in private coaching institutes and doing other activities.

Important initiatives under Safe City Project:

The Safe City Project by the UP government has selected 2500 schools in the prominent area of Gautam Buddha Nagar to install high resolution CCTV cameras. The Uttar Pradesh government has also identified 17 municipal corporations for the installation of CCTV cameras to ensure the safety of women and girls.

Among 2500 selected schools( 68 government schools, 646 added schools, 1786 unaided schools) 1692 schools are those schools where the installation of CCTV cameras has been completed and the process of the installation of CCTV cameras in remaining schools is completed soon as per the UP government.

Under the Safe City Project, CCTV cameras installation has been done in many coaching institutes, universities,pg institutes, municipal corporations, higher educational institutes and other important areas and in many places the process is going on.

Additionally, the Safe City Project ensures installation of CCTV cameras which contributes not only to crime prevention but also creates a sense of comfort for women and girls. This step also helps police professionals to combat any possible threats.

The UP government has also released some guidelines for the coaching institutes which make schedules for late evening classes. Girls find it uncomfortable in late classes and it also makes them vulnerable for molestation in the dark and where no CCTV cameras are installed.
