WHO announced to designate CCRAS-NIIMH as Collaborating Centre for Traditional Medicine Research
The World Health Organization has recently decided to designate the National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage (NIIMH), Hyderabad, a unit under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush as Collaborating Centre.
CCRAS-NIIMH is designated as the Collaborating Center for “Fundamental and Literary Research in Traditional Medicine” (CC IND-177). The Institute is designated by WHO for the period of four years.
This is the great recognition provided by WHO to any Institute.
About CCRAS-NIIMH:
The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Its mission is to promote and advance research in the field of Ayurveda, which includes the development of new treatments, validation of traditional knowledge, and dissemination of research findings.
The National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage (NIIMH) is a part of CCRAS. It was established in 1956 and Located in Hyderabad. NIIMH is dedicated to the collection, documentation, and study of ancient manuscripts and literature related to Indian medical heritage.
Present Director General of CCRAS, NIIMH and Head of the WHO-CC is Prof. Vaidya Rabinarayan Acharya.
About WHO Collaborating Centres:
If we talk about India there are around 58 WHO Collaborating Centers across the country. After the announcement of WHO now CCRAS-NIIMH has become the third center of the Traditional Medicine sector.
