World’s tallest Ambedkar statue unveiled in Andhra Pradesh: Statue of justice
World’s tallest statue of Dr BR Ambedkar,who is known as the architect and developer of the Indian Constitution, unveiled in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh by the state government. It is going to be the tallest statue of Ambedkar. One of the tallest Ambedkar statues outside India is situated in Maryland, US.
This Ambedkar statue is called Statue of justice and it is around 206 feet from the ground. This Ambedkar statue in Andhra Pradesh is under the list of top 50 tallest statues around the world, in which Statue of unity tops. The second tallest statue of Ambedkar, around 175 feet, in India is situated in Telangana.
Important features of Statue of Justice:
- The height of the statue of justice is around 125 feet and the pedestal where this statue stands is 81 feet, thus the total height of the statue becomes 206 feet from the ground.
- The project to build the statue of justice cost around 404.35 crore.
- The project is built and spread over 18.81 acres of land which is built as a green park.
- One of the important and significant features of the statue of justice is that the entire project from raw materials to designing is completely based on made in India.
- Around 400 tonnes of steel was used to build the statue of justice.
- The statue was built on the Swaraj Maidan and the government has decided to redevelop the area.
- There are also some beautiful water bodies around the statue such as a three-sided peripheral water body around the pedestal and there is also a musical water fountain.
- There is also a Convention center to display the life of Ambedkar by LED screens with a sitting capacity of 2000 people.
- There is also a food court of 8000 square feet and a children’s playing area around the statue.
About Dr BR Ambedkar:
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, born on April 14, 1891, was a prominent Indian jurist, social reformer, and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Ambedkar played a crucial role in drafting the Indian Constitution and is often referred to as the “Father of the Indian Constitution.” He dedicated his life to fighting against social discrimination and untouchability. Ambedkar, himself being from the Dalit community, advocated for their rights and equality.
He authored several influential books, including “Annihilation of Caste” and “The Problem of the Rupee.”
