Young Scientists Programme 2024 “YUVIKA” announced by ISRO

Indian Space Research Organization is going to organize an unique and ambitious programme for school going children in India,who have curiosity for space and celestial phenomena, named  “Young Scientist Programme” “YUva VIgyani KAryakram” (YUVIKA).

Objective:

The main objective of YUVIKA programme is to facilitate basic knowledge of space Science, space technology and space application about new trends in space science and technology in today’s world to Young children of India.

Through this programme, the school going children will have a chance to gain knowledge about space technology and their curiosity will be fostered by this programme. This is a great initiative taken by ISRO and it has already organized many similar programmes in the past.

ISRO has outlined this programme to “Catch them young”. This showcases the potential of Young children that they can excel in space science and technology if they get opportunities to reveal their knowledge.

More about the YUVIKA:

The YUVIKA programme is also aimed to encourage students to opt for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) based research and aligned careers in their study. The preference area of this programme would be rural areas of the country.

The programme is implemented to create awareness among students especially children from rural areas about new emerging trends in space science and space technology. Two week classroom training is provided to the students during the YUVIKA programme.

There are also some important components of YUVIKA programme such as practical demonstration of experiments, hands on CANSAT, Robotic kit, Model rocketry interactions with ISRO scientists and field visits.

Eligibility:

YUVIKA 2023 programme had received overwhelming response as around more than 1.25 lakh students had been registered under the YUVIKA 2023 programme. ISRO has already conducted the YUVIKA programme in 2019, 2022 and 2023. This is YUVIKA 2024 programme announced by ISRO.

To registered under this programme, students need to register themselves from 20th February 2024 to 20th March 2024. Students from class 9th are eligible to apply for YUVIKA programme.

YUVIKA programme is one of the great initiatives taken by ISRO. It has numerous benefits for young students. It fosters the curiosity of young students about space technology, space science and also space application with the latest trend in space science.
