ADITI Scheme is launched by Defence Ministry at DefConnect 2024

Minister of Defence Shri Rajnath Singh launched Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with iDEX (ADITI) scheme to encourage innovation in the defense technologies. The Acing Development of Innovative Technology with iDEX scheme is launched by Rajnath Singh during the DefConnect 2024 in New Delhi.

More about ADITI Scheme:

Under the ADITI Scheme, the startups related to Defence industry are eligible to get grant-in-aid of up to ₹25 crore. This grant-in-aid will help these startups to conduct research, Development and Innovation in critical and strategic Defense technologies.

The ADITI Scheme will encourage innovation in youth and help the country to grow further in the field of defense technologies. The total cost of the ADITI Scheme is around ₹750 crore for the period of 2023-24 to 2025-26. The ADITI Scheme falls under the iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) framework of Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence.

Objective:

The aim of the ADITI Scheme is to develop around 30 deep-tech critical and strategic technologies in the defense sector. It also aims to create a ‘Technology Watch Tool’ to fill the space between expectations and requirements of the modern armed forces. The 17 challenges launched in the first edition of ADITI include 3 in the Indian army, 5 in the Indian Navy, 5 in Indian Air forces, 4 in Defence space agency.

Initiatives at DefConnect 2024:

The 11th edition of Defence India Start-up Challenge (DISC) is also witnessed in the DefConnect 2024. A technology showcase was also organized by iDEX-Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) that presented the diverse range of startups in the Defence sector.

The DefConnect 2024 also hosted a panel discussion on ‘Women as Drivers of Change’ to discuss the role of Women in the Defence sector and technologies. DefConnect 2024 featured a special ceremony for women entrepreneurs in iDEX.

The launch of ADITI, DISC 11 and other important and Innovative initiatives has envisaged a great significance in the defense sector. This also highlights the ambitious commitment of the government to encourage Entrepreneurship, innovation and self Reliance in the Defence sector.
