All about NISAR- NASA ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite
Indian Space Research Organisation is all set to launch the NISAR satellite at the end of this year. It is supposed to be launched in July but due to some technical problem it is expected to launch in October-November phase.
In today’s article we are going to know some interesting facts about this space docking experiment.
What is NISAR :
It is a joint mission of NASA and ISRO to develop the NISAR Satellite. It is the first sattelite to use dual frequencies and will be the first Radar imaging sattelite.
The total expected cost to develop the NISAR is around USD 1.5 billion and this is going to be the world’s most expensive Radar imaging sattelite.
The NISAR satellite contain two bands- S band and L band. S band is made by ISRO and L band is developed by the US. It can monitor tectonic movements, water bodies, can ground penerterate to a certain depth, vegetation covet,snow cover and full coverage of earth.
Significance:
The NISAR satellite mission has significantly Important. With the help of this mission we can study various Important aspects of earth such as climate change related issues, agricultural pattern changes, continental movements and also water related observations.
Launch date:
It is supposed to be launched by July this year but due to some technical problem on the US side it can be late. Now it is expected to be launched in the October-November phase.
