Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry launched through Common Service Centres

Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry(APAAR) has been launched jointly by Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Shri Sanjay Kumar; Secretary, Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Shri K. Sanjay Murthy; and MD-CEO, CSC SPV, Shri Sanjay Rakesh through Common Service Centres (CSCs) in remote areas and villages around the country.

Objective of APAAR:

‘One Nation, One Student ID’ is the main objective of APAAR. Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry comes under the National Education Policy NEP 2020. Under the APAAR, all school and college going students need to register on Academic Bank of Credit ABC. As per the new norms by the Ministry of education, it is now mandatory to have an ABC ID to take admission in colleges and universities.

Digital Service penetration in India has been growing continuously and in the field of education, one can avail the benefits of digital services through Common Service Centres. All school going students would receive APAAR ID immediately and further this ID should be authenticated by Adhaar. Students can link this APAAR ID with the Digi Locker. This new rule will make the education system more transparent and esiaer.

About Academic Bank of Credit:

Academic Bank of Credit is like a repository or storage unit in the education field. Students can avail the benefits such as store their scorecards, marks and personal information in Academic Bank of Credit. To avail the benefits, one needs to visit the nearest Common Service Centres.

By receiving this ID, students can easily take admission from one college to another college, such as for post graduation. Sometimes students need to switch college and this time this ID can be so beneficial.

Academic Bank of Credit is like a storehouse in which all credits earned by a student throughout his academic life can be stored and avail by him anytime. The suggestion of the implementation of the Academic Bank of Credit is given in the National Education Policy NEP 2020.
