Detailed Eligibility, Age Limit & Salary:
Assistant Commandant – General Duty
- Education: Graduation with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level
- Age Limit: 21 to 25 years as on 1 July 2025 (born between 1 July 2000 to 30 June 2004)
- Salary: ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 per month under Pay Level 10 with other admissible allowances
Assistant Commandant – Technical (Engineering)
- Education: B.E./B.Tech degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or relevant disciplines
- Age Limit: 21 to 25 years as on 1 July 2025
- Salary: ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 per month under Pay Level 10 with technical and duty allowances
Important Guidelines for Applicants:
- Age relaxation of 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, and up to 15 years for PwBD candidates.
- Ex-servicemen with at least 6 months of service are eligible for age relaxation.
- Application fee is non-refundable.
- Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination before final selection.
- Reservation for PwBD and Ex-servicemen as per government rules.
Medical Standards:
- Height: Minimum 157 cm (reductions for candidates from hilly/tribal areas as per Central Govt. regulations).
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age, ±10% acceptable.
- Chest: Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cm.
- Hearing: Normal.

Indian Coast Guard Selection Process 2025:
The selection process for the Assistant Commandant is a rigorous, multi-stage procedure designed to identify the most capable and deserving candidates. It is conducted in five stages, and clearing each stage is mandatory.
Stage-I: Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT)
This is a computer-based online screening test.
- Total Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Marking Scheme: +4 for each correct answer, -1 for each incorrect answer.
- Duration: 2 hours.
- Syllabus:
- Section A: English (25 Questions)
- Section B: Reasoning & Numerical Ability (25 Questions)
- Section C: General Science & Mathematical Aptitude (25 Questions)
- Section D: General Knowledge (25 Questions)
Stage-II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB)
Shortlisted candidates from Stage-I will be called for the PSB.
- Tests: Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT).
- Nature: This stage is qualifying in nature (Recommended/Not Recommended).
Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB)
Candidates who clear the PSB will proceed to the FSB, which spans over four to five days.
- Tests: This stage includes a Psychological Test, Group Tasks, and a final Interview (Personality Test).
Stage-IV: Medical Examination
Candidates recommended by the FSB will undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi, to ensure they meet the prescribed medical standards.
Stage-V: Induction
Candidates who are medically fit and appear in the final All-India Merit List will be selected for training at the prestigious Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.
