Country’s first Skill India Centre is inaugurated in Odisha

Country’s first Skill India Centre has recently been inaugurated in Sambalpur, Odisha by Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. There are also some prominent personalities presented in the event of inauguration of first Skill India Centre such as Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari; CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International Shri Ved Mani Tiwari; and other dignitaries.

To Become a self-reliant country, India needs to have a skilled and competent workforce and towards this goal, the Skill India Centre is going to be more beneficial. The Centre is going to provide low cost courses to empower Youth to make them a part of future Skills and new age jobs around the world.

Objective:

The Skill India Centre will empower Youth with new age Skill and also eqip the Youth with employable Skills in demand driven industries. The Skill India Centre will also create an industry ready workforce and encourage Entrepreneurship.

The Skill India Centre is designed to train Youth in demand driven industries such as Media & Entertainment, Leather, Tourism & Hospitality, and IT-ITeS. The training programmes provided by the Centre will be a unique combination of classroom teaching and work based practical learnings.

The Skill India Centre will be facilitated with best in class infrastructure, modern and cutting edge technologies served as a catalyst in forming Youth as Skilled employees.

The curriculum of the Skill India Centre will be designed by industry experts and the curriculum will be aligned by the new and changing needs of the demand driven industries.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will appoint a Centre Manager at the Skill India Centre to monitor the training programmes and ensure the quality standards and the functioning of the Centre. This will help to maintain the seamless Implementation of the training ecosystem.

About National Skill Development Corporation:

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is a public-private partnership organization in India that aims to promote skill development by catalyzing private sector investment and initiatives.

NSDC was established in 2009 as a not-for-profit company under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956. NSDC collaborates with various stakeholders including private sector companies, industry associations, state governments, and international organizations to design and implement skill development initiatives.

NSDC supports skill development programs across multiple sectors including agriculture, healthcare, construction, hospitality, retail, automotive, and information technology.

Conclusion:

According to the Dharmendra Pradhan, the aim of the Skill India Centre is to empower over 1200 students by implementing Skill training programmes in new age job roles and the Skill sets of Amrit Peedhi will be upgraded by this Centre in demand driven industries in India.
