Indian and Sri Lankan scientists to undertake joint research

  • Nine teams of scientists from India and Sri Lanka will undertake research with bilateral support from the two countries’ governments.
  • The scientists will work on areas such as food technology, plant-based medicines, metrology, space research and applications, robotics and automation, industrial electronics, renewable energy, waste management, and information and communication technology.

India at 49th spot on internet inclusion globally: Facebook study

  • Despite cheapest data plans and nearly 700 million internet users, India is at a dismal 49th spot globally when it comes to internet inclusion and gender equality in accessing the world wide web, a Facebook-Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) study has revealed.
  • India is tied with Thailand in 49th place this year on the scores of internet availability (77th position globally), affordability (20th spot), relevance (49th position) and readiness (29th) categories.

RBI to set up Regulations Review Authority for one year

RBI to set up Regulations Review Authority for one year

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will be set up a new Regulations Review Authority (RRA 2.0) from May 1, 2021, to review the regulations, circulars, reporting systems and compliance procedures of the central bank for streamlining them and making them more effective. The RRA will be set up for a period of one year unless the timeline is extended by the RBI.
  • M Rajeshwar Rao, Deputy Governor, RBI will be the head of the Regulations Review Authority.

Gaganyaan: ISRO signs agreement with France

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation recently signed an agreement with the French Space Agency CNES. CNES is National Centre for Space Studies. CNES stands for Centre National d’etudes Spatiales. According to the agreement, CNES is to help India in its first Human Space Mission called the Gaganyaan.
  • The French Space Agency is to supply with space equipment to the Indian crew. According to France, these equipment were tested and are still operating in the International Space Station.

PM Modi released 4 books related to Babasaheb Ambedkar

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 95th Annual Meet and National Seminar of Vice-Chancellors of the Association of Indian Universities via video conferencing and launched four books related to Dr BR Ambedkar, written by Kishor Makwana.
  • The four books to be released by the prime minister are Dr Ambedkar Jivan Darshan, Dr Ambedkar Vyakti Darshan, Dr Ambedkar Rashtra Darshan, and Dr Ambedkar Aayam Darshan.

Title of Suresh Raina’s memoir Book ‘Believe’ release

  • There’s a story behind Suresh Raina’s tattoo, which reads, ‘Believe’. It was revealed that it was a mantra given to him by Sachin Tendulkar. It struck such a chord with Raina that he decided to get it etched on his arm.
  • In “Believe — What Life and Cricket Taught Me” (Penguin), co-authored by Bharat Sundaresan, Suresh Raina, one of India’s most successful international cricketers.
