Amit Shah inaugurated National Security Strategies Conference in New Delhi

  • Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated a two-day National Security Strategies (NSS) Conference in New Delhi.
  • Objective – To ensure a safe and secure nation by strengthening all aspects of the national security mechanism.
  • The Conference is being attended by 600 officers from across the country, physically and virtually.
  • During the conference, he also inaugurated the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) which was developed by NCRB.
  • NAFIS will help in quick and easy disposal of cases with the help of centralized fingerprint database.

Centre launched Paalan 1000 campaign and a parenting app to focus on child health

  • Union Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar has virtually launched the Paalan 1000 National Campaign and Parenting App in Mumbai.
  • ‘Paalan 1000 – Journey of the First 1000 Days’ focuses on the cognitive developments of children in the first two years of life, while the companion app will provide the caregiver with practical advice.
  • India has taken rapid strides in reducing child mortality since 2014 from 45 per 1000 live births to 35 per 1000 live births in 2019.
  • The first 1000 days establish a solid platform for a child’s physical, mental, emotional, cognitive, and social health.

Arunachal Pradesh launched drone-based health services

  • Arunachal Pradesh has successfully launched the first flight of drone service – ‘medicine from the sky’ from Seppa to ChayangTajo in East Kameng district.
  • The pilot project has been funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and executed by Bengaluru-based startup Redwing Labs.
  • It was launched in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Rajasthan government to inaugurate tech centre for graduates

  • With an aim to make tech graduates more employable, Rajasthan government is set to inaugurate Rajiv Gandhi Centre of Advance Technology or R-CAT.
  • It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot during a two-day DigiFest-2022.
  • R-CAT will conduct training programs on advanced and emerging information technologies with a duration ranging from 1 week to 6 months for graduates.
  • The school will issue industry standard certificates for the courses to the successful candidates.

Thai Public Broadcasting Service signed an MoU with Prasar Bharati

  • The Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) has signed an MoU with India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati.
  • An MoU was also signed on Health and Medical Research Cooperation between Indian Council of Medical Research and Department of Medical Sciences, Thailand.
  • They were signed during the 9th Meeting of India-Thailand Joint Commission.
  • Indian Ambassador to Thailand Suchitra Durai represented Prasar Bharati in signing the MoU, one of the two documents on Thai-Indian cooperation signed during the ceremony.

  • The 4th India-Philippines Strategic Dialogue was held in Manila.

  • In February 2022, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the Philippines with the aim to strengthen bilateral ties.

HAL to open first overseas marketing office in Malaysia

  • Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed an MoU for opening its first international marketing & sales office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  • The office in Kuala Lumpur will enhance HAL’s ability to secure the deal while also enabling them to fulfill other requirements of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) like the upgradation and servicing of the Russian Su-30s and British Hawk trainer aircraft.
  • This office in Malaysia will help HAL in tapping the new business opportunities for Fighter Lead in Trainer (FLIT) LCA.
  • It will also help HAL expand its services in South East Asia.

Goa becomes the first ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certified State in the country

  • Goa and ‘Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu’ have become respectively the first ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certified State and UT in the country.
  • Over 10 crore rural households of the country have been connected to the facility of clean water through pipes, with 7 crore rural families getting connected in the last three years.
  • Jal Jeevan Mission is a flagship programme of the Government of India which was announced from the ramparts of Red Fort by the visionary Prime Minister on August 15, 2019.
  • The mission aims to make provision of potable tap water supply in adequate quantity, of prescribed quality and on regular and long-term basis to every rural household of the country by 2024. The program is implemented by the Government of India in partnership with States/UTs.

  • HDFC has opened its first all-women branch with four women bankers in the north Kerala region in Kozhikode.

HDFC Bank launched a new campaign ‘Vigil Aunty ‘

  • HDFC Bank has launched a new campaign titled ‘Vigil Aunty’.
  • It aims to encourage people across the country to practice safe banking habits.
  • This will complement the bank’s ‘Mooh Band Rakho’ campaign which urges people not to share their confidential banking information with others.
  • A campaign to promote Vigil Aunty and persuade people to follow her on social media and/or WhatsApp will be run for four to six weeks.

RBI cancelled license of Deccan Urban Co-operative Bank

  • RBI has cancelled the license of Deccan Urban Co-operative Bank, Karnataka as the bank does not have adequate capital & earning prospects.
  • As per the data submitted by the bank, more than 99 percent of the depositors are entitled to receive the full amount of their deposits from Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC).
  • In its present financial position, the bank would be unable to pay its depositors in full.
  • The Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Karnataka, is to issue an order for winding up and appointing a liquidator for the bank.

Alkesh Kumar Sharma appointed to high-level UN internet panel

  • UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed India’s Electronics and Information Technology Secretary Alkesh Kumar Sharma to the 10-member Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Leadership Panel.
  • In addition, Guterres’ envoy on technology, Amandeep Singh Gill, was also appointed to the panel.
  • The panel’s role is to deal with “strategic and urgent issues” of the Internet and provide strategic advice to the IGF.

HAL delivered Crew Module Fairing to ISRO for Gaganyaan

  • The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has handed over the Crew Module Fairing (CMF) & High-altitude escape motor Thrust-transfer Structure (HTS) to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
  • The two big components of the Gaganyaan mission were handed over to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.
  • The Gaganyaan mission, which was set to conduct the maiden uncrewed mission this year, has been pushed to 2023 as Isro continues to perfect the systems and has said that it will not take any chances, since this is the first time it is attempting to send humans into space from India.
  • The Rs 10,000-crore mission aims to send a three-member Indian crew to space for a period of five to seven days and safely return them to Earth.
  • This is the second crew module fairing (CMF) that ISRO has taken delivery of, for Gaganyaan.
  • The CMF is a protective structure that surrounds the actual housing for India’s to-be space scientists.
