“Ek Pahal Campaign” launched for Justice delivery at doorstep

The Ministry of Law and Justice has launched a Pan-India Special Campaign called “Ek Pahal Drive” for Justice Delivery at doorstep on September 17, 2021.
The campaign was launched in a bid to encourage mass registration under Tele-Law. The campaign was launched by Department of Justice and NALSA. This campaign seeks to actualize the aspiration of access to justice for citizens in India.

India jumps 2 spots to 46th rank in Global Innovation Index 2021, Switzerland Tops

India has climbed two spots to 46 in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2021 prepared by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The country’s rank has been consistently rising in the last few years. From 81 in 2015, it has moved to 46 in 2021.

Justin Trudeau wins historic third term in Canada’s Prime Minister election

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hung onto power on 21st Sept as his main rival conceded defeat, but his Liberals fell short of his goal for a majority win.
Trudeau, in power since 2015 and governing with a minority of House of Commons seats since 2019, decided to gamble on an early vote and capitalize on his government’s handling of the pandemic, which included massive spending to support individuals and businesses and a push for high vaccination rates.

HDFC Bank ties up with Paytm to launch co-branded credit cards

HDFC Bank has announced its partnership with leading payments company Paytm, to offer co-branded credit cards on the Visa platform to businesspersons, millennials and merchants.
The HDFC Bank-Paytm co-branded credit cards will be launched in October during the festive season to tap into the high consumer demand for credit cards, equated monthly instalments (EMIs), and buy now pay later (BNPL) options and the full suite of products will be offered by the end of December 2021.

73rd Emmy Awards 2021

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards honored the best in U.S. prime time television programming from June 1, 2020, until May 31, 2021, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The nominations were announced on July 13, 2021 by Ron and Jasmine Cephas Jones via a virtual event. The award ceremony was held live on September 19, 2021 at the Event Deck at L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles, California, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, and broadcast in the U.S. by CBS and Paramount.

India, Indonesia begin three-day naval exercise ‘Samudra Shakti’ in Sunda Strait

India and Indonesia began a three-day mega naval wargame on 21st Sept in the Sunda Strait, in reflection of their growing maritime cooperation. Indian Navy deployed its two frontline warships Shivalik and Kadmatt for the third edition of the exercise ‘Samudra Shakti’.
“The exercise aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship, enhance mutual understanding and interoperability in maritime operations between the two navies.

Akhara Parishad chief Narendra Giri passes away

President of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri has passed away. It was in 2016 that Giri first took over as chief of the Akhara Parishad.
It was during his tenure that the Parishad released a list of allegedly “fake saints”. In 2019, Giri was elected chief of the Parishad for a second time.
