Exp. Karnataka launched ‘FRUITS’ software for farmer schemes

The Karnataka government has launched ‘The Farmer Registration & Unified Beneficiary Information System’ or FRUITS software for Aadhar-based, single-window registration for the schemes.

FRUITS software will facilitate single registration using an Aadhar card and Karnataka’s Bhoomi digitised land record system for authenticating ownership.

Through the creation of single digital identification through FRUITS, farmers can access benefits of hosts of schemes such as Direct Benefit Transfer under PM Kisan, payment for Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for crops, special financial assistance, caste certificate authentication and ration cards.

Exp. India’s 1st display plant will be set up by Rajesh Exports with $3 billion investment in Telangana

Jeweller Rajesh Exports will invest $3 billion to set up the country’s first electronic-display plant in Telangana, the state government said.

India and many governments around the world have raced to subsidise the construction of semiconductor and display factories as a shortage has hobbled the auto and electronics industries and highlighted the world’s dependence on a few sources, such as Taiwan, for vital supplies.

Exp. India extended $55 million credit line to Sri Lanka for fertiliser imports

The Indian government has decided to extend a Line of Credit (LOC) of USD 55 million to Sri Lanka for the procurement of Urea Fertiliser.

This credit line was extended in response to an urgent request from the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL), amid the ongoing economic crisis.

An LOC agreement was signed between GOSL and the Export-Import Bank of India on June 10, 2022 at Colombo, in the presence of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera, and the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay.

Exp. India finalised deals for cheetahs from South Africa & Namibia

Indian government has finalised deals with South Africa and Namibia to get the planet’s fastest animals, cheetahs that became extinct in India and will be released into the wild at Kuno Palpur, Madhya Pradesh, by the end of 2022.

Initially, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed for 10 years, which can be extended for another five years.

There will be 12 cheetahs from South Africa and 8 from Namibia and more will be followed in subsequent years.

Exp. 12th WTO Ministerial conference 2022 held at Geneva

The twelfth WTO Ministerial Conference took place on 12-15 June 2022 at WTO headquarter in Geneva, Switzerland after a gap of almost 5 years.

The Conference will be co-hosted by Kazakhstan and chaired by Mr Timur Suleimenov, Deputy Chief of Staff of Kazakhstan’s President.

Indian delegation will be led by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. India is a founding member of the WTO since 1 January 1995 and a member of GATT since 8 July 1948.

Exp. Rabab Fatima appointed as Under Secretary General of UN

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres appointed Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh as the Under Secretary General or Assistant Secretary General of the UN.

She succeeds Courtenay Rattray of Jamaica who was appointed as the Chef de Cabinet.

She has been also appointed as High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS).

António Guterres appointed Navid Hanif of Pakistan as Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

Exp. Ratan Tata awarded honorary Doctorate by Maharashtra’s HSNC University

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented the Honorary Doctor of Literature on industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata at Raj Bhavan Mumbai.

R Tata has been conferred honorary D.Litt. by Maharashtra’s second state cluster university, HSNC University, as a mark of appreciation toward his unparalleled contribution for society.

Mr Tata was the chairman of Tata Group, from 1990 to 2012 (interim chairman Oct 2016 -Feb 2017) and continues to head its charitable trusts.

Exp. Defence Ministry increased funding limit of TDF Scheme of DRDO to Rs 50 crore per project

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved enhancement of funding under Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme to Rs 50 crores per project from Rs 10 crores

TDF scheme is executed by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and supports indigenous development of components, products, systems and technologies by MSMEs and start-ups.

It facilitates up to 90% of the total project cost and allows industry to work in consortium with another industry/academia.

Exp. India will launch first human space mission & first human ocean mission in 2023

Union Minister of State (MoS) (I/C), Ministry of Earth Sciences; and Ministry of Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh announced that India is set to simultaneously launch the first Human Space Mission “Gaganyaan” as well as the first manned Human Ocean Mission in 2023.

The announcement was made during the event organised as a part of World Ocean Day 2022 (8th June) at Prithvi Bhawan, Delhi.

He also announced that the government is set to unveil the Blue Economy Policy and more than 40 million people will be employed by ocean-based industries by 2030.

Exp. Max Verstappen won Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Azerbaijan Formula One Grand Prix 2022 (his fifth victory of the season).

In the process, Verstappen became the most successful driver in the Red Bull of all time. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez came second and Mercedes’ George Russell came at the third spot.

Exp. Shot put athlete Manpreet Kaur broke National record in Inter-State Athletics Meet, Chennai

Shot put athlete Manpreet Kaur from Haryana broke the 18m barrier on her fourth attempt, setting a new National Record of 18.06m in the 61st National inter-state senior athletics championship in Chennai.

She held the previous record of 17.96m. Manpreet has previously thrown the iron ball 18.86m at the Asian GP in 2017. Manpreet Kaur has qualified for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The second and third place was bagged by Uttar Pradesh’s Kiran Baliyan (16.84m) and Maharashtra’s Abha Khatua (16.69m).

Exp. Saanapathi Gurunaidu won gold medal in men’s 55kg event at IWF Youth World Championship

Indian weightlifter Saanapathi Gurunaidu has clinched Gold medal in men’s 55 kilogram event at IWF Youth World Championships in Leon, Mexico.

He lifted a total of 230-kilogram, 104 kilogram in Snatch winning Silver and 126 kilogram lifting in Clean and Jerk to finish on the top to grab the gold medal.

Apart from him, Vijay Prajapati and Akansha Kishor Vyavhare clinched silver medals on the opening day. Akanksha won the medal in Women’s 40-kilogram category.

Exp. Rahul Srivatshav became India’s 74th Grandmaster

Telangana’s Rahul Srivatshav P has become India’s 74th Grandmaster, achieving the title after breaking the 2500 (Elo points) barrier in live FIDE ratings during the 9th Cattolica Chess Festival 2022 in Italy.

The 19-year-old player reached the 2500 Elo live rating mark after drawing his 8th round game against Grandmaster Levan Pantsulaia in the Cattolica event. His current Elo rating is 2468.

Srivatshav had already secured five GM norms and achieved the title when he crossed the rating threshold of 2500. To become a GM, a player has to secure three GM norms and cross the live rating of 2500 Elo points.

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is celebrating Elimination of Child Labour Week in the honour of World Day Against Child Labour.

It is being celebrated in 75 places as part of the “75th anniversary celebrations of India’s independence – “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” in different districts starting from 12th June to 20th June, 2022 as a significance to pay attention to the problem of child labour and to find ways to eradicate it.

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been constituted by the Government of India, as a statutory body under section 3 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005 for dealing with the protection of child rights and related matters.

Exp. 13 June: International Albinism Awareness Day

International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD), annually observed on June 13, represents the importance and celebration of human rights of people with albinism.

The establishment of the International Albinism Awareness Day was laid down by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18, 2014. It was decided that June 13 will be observed as the IAAD and the first observance was done in 2015.

Albinism is a non-contagious, genetically inherited ailment that results in the lack of melanin in the skin, eyes, and hair.
