Exp. UPI Completes 10 Years with Massive Growth in Transactions and Value

India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI), developed by the National Payments Corporation of India, has completed 10 years since its launch in 2016.

UPI has witnessed massive growth in transaction volume, rising from 1.78 crore to 21,898 crore transactions (around 12,000× increase).

The transaction value has surged from ₹6,952 crore to ₹285 lakh crore, marking an extraordinary 4,000× growth over the decade.

Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury, popularly known as ‘Dalu Babu’, passed away at the age of 88 in Kolkata, West Bengal.

During the UPA government, he held the position of Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, contributing to public health policies.
