Exp. 41st India International Trade Fair begins in New Delhi

The 41st edition of the India International Trade Fair (IITF) begins at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has inaugurated the fair, which will continue till the 27th of November.

This year the theme of the trade fair is Vocal For Local, Local to Global.

29 States and Union Territories are participating in the event.

Bihar, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra are Partner States while Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are participating as Focus States in the fair.

Various Central Ministries, Departments, Commodity Boards, and PSUs are participating in this event to showcase their achievements.

12 foreign countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Belarus, Iran, Nepal, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, and UK are participating in the fair

Exp. CSL to build India’s first hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel

The Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) will build the country’s first indigenous hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel for the spiritual city of Varanasi.

The Union government, through the Inland Waterways Authority of India, has signed an MoU with Cochin Shipyard for the construction of the vessel.

CSL has also signed an MoU for the construction of six electric catamaran vessels for Uttar Pradesh and another two for Guwahati in Assam.

The hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel will have a seating capacity for 100 passengers.

The electric hybrid vessels, designed for short-distance commute in riverine waters, will have seating capacity for 50 passengers.

Exp. Reliance Industries to make India’s first multimodal logistics park in Chennai

Industrialist Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries will build India’s maiden multimodal logistics park (MMLP) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The multimodal logistics park will be made at an estimated developer investment of Rs 783 crore in three phases. Phase-1 development is targeted within 2 years i.e. by 2025 leading to commercial operations.

MMLP at Chennai which is strategically located about 52 km from Chennai Port, 80 km from Ennore Port, 87 km from Katupalli Airport will be a focal point of logistics in the southern region.

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced that MMLP will be spread over 184 acres and cost Rs 1,424 crore.

The logistics park is estimated to a cater to 7.17 million metric tonnes (MMT) cargo in horizon period of 45 years.

For the Chennai MMLP, a government special purpose vehicle (SPV) has been formed amongst NHLML, Rail Vikas Nigam, Chennai Port Authority and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation.

It will provide four-lane national highway connectivity of 5.4 km at an estimated Rs 104 crore and a new rail siding of 10.5 km to the MMLP, costing Rs 217 crore.

After Chennai, the Bangalore MMLP is next in the pipeline; due date for bids (is) in November.

As part of its plan to improve the logistics industry, the ministry is planning to invite bids for the Nagpur MMLP in December and will award the project in January 2023.

Under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan launched in October 2021, MoRTH is developing 35 Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs), out of which 15 MMLPs are prioritized in the next three years. The Chennai project is the first of 35 MMLPs

Exp. India to organize 3rd Ministerial ‘No Money for Terror’ Conference in New Delhi

Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India will organize the 3rd Ministerial Conference on ‘No Money for Terror’ in New Delhi on 18th and 19th November.

The purpose of this conference is to take forward the discussions on combating terrorist financing held by the international community in the previous two conferences in Paris (2018) and Melbourne (2019).

Representatives from 75 countries and international bodies will attend the two-day conference for deliberations.

In October 2022, India hosted two international events – The annual General Assembly of Interpol (Delhi) and a special session of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee (Mumbai and Delhi).

Exp. 7th Edition of Amur Falcon Festival celebrated in Manipur

The 7th edition of the Amur Falcon Festival has celebrated in the Tamenglong district of Manipur.

The day-long festival is generally celebrated in the first or second week of November.

The festival has been organized since 2015 to spread awareness about the protection and conservation of the world’s longest-flying migratory bird Amur falcon.

The Amur falcon (Falco amurensis) is the world’s longest travelling small raptors of the falcon family.

Amur falcons migrate to their wintering grounds in South Africa, usually arriving in large numbers during October in Nagaland and Manipur besides other places in northeast India undertaking a yearly journey of about 20,000 km.

They leave the region in November after having enough food for their non-stop flight to Africa where they spend their winters.

Exp. ASEAN agreed in principle to admit East Timor as 11th member

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has agreed ‘in principle’ to admit East Timor as the group’s 11th member.

East Timor is the youngest country in Southeast Asia, having gained independence from Indonesia in 2002 after 24 years of occupation.

ASEAN began as a five-member bloc in 1967 and has gradually expanded, with Cambodia being the most recent addition in 1999.

Exp. Indian Navy Conducted ‘Prasthan’ an Offshore Security Exercise

Indian Navy has conducted ‘Prasthan’, a structured exercise to evaluate organizational effectiveness in protecting offshore assets off Mumbai on an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) platform 150 km into the sea.

Prasthan’ is conducted twice a year under the aegis of Headquarters, Western Naval Command.

It aims to assess various measures and protocols conceived to address security threats and other contingencies that may arise in offshore oil production platforms.

Partner agencies such as the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, ONGC, Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), the police, fisheries, and customs activated their emergency procedures to deal with the contingencies.

• India has participated in 26th International Malabar Naval Exercise, organized in Yokosuka of Japan.
• The first edition of the India-Mozambique-Tanzania Trilateral Exercise (IMT TRILAT) concluded at Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
• Indian Air Force (IAF) and French Air and Space Force (FASF) are participating in a bilateral exercise named ‘Garuda’ from 26th Oct to 12th Nov 2022 at Air Force Station Jodhpur.
• The Indian Navy hosted the 29th edition of the Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) at Visakhapatnam.
• The Indian and US militaries carried out a three-day joint humanitarian assistance exercise ‘Tiger Triumph’ in Visakhapatnam

Exp. Kabaddi World Cup 2025 to be hosted by West Midlands

The World Kabaddi Federation announced that the UK’s West Midlands Region will host the 2025 Kabaddi World Cup.

This will be the first time that the Kabaddi World Cup will be held outside Asia.

It will be organized by England Kabaddi, Scottish Kabaddi, and the British Kabaddi League.

The tournament will feature 16 teams (men and women), including from India, Iran, and Pakistan.

The first Kabaddi World Cup was held in Melaka, Malaysia in July 2019. The men’s and women’s title was won by the Indian team.

Exp. Sri Lanka to host U-19 Men’s T-20 World Cup 2024

International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the 2024 Under-19 men’s T-20 World Cup will be hosted by Sri Lanka while the 2026 edition will be hosted by Zimbabwe & Namibia.

The 2025 U-19 women’s T20 World Cup will be held in Malaysia & Thailand & 2027 U-19 women’s edition will be hosted by Bangladesh & Nepal.

ICC also declared the qualification pathway for the 10-team 2024 women’s T20 World Cup.  Eight teams will qualify for the event automatically comprising the top three teams from each group from 2023 T20 World Cup.

The remaining two teams will be identified through the 10-team ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.

Exp. Mehuli Ghosh won Gold medal in the Asian Airgun Championship

Indian shooter Mehuli Ghosh has defeated South Korean Eunyoung Cho to clinch the Women’s10-meter Air Rifle gold medal at the Asian Airgun Championship in Daegu, South Korea.

The junior women’s gold was bagged by Tilottama Sen who beat compatriot and qualification topper Nancy 17-11 in the 10-meter air rifle event.

In the youth women’s event, India’s Gautami Bhanot won Gold, Yukthi Rajendra Silver and Hazel won Bronze medals.

Exp. PV Sindhu launched Fit India School Week Mascots ‘Toofan & Toofani’

Indian Badminton player PV Sindhu has launched the mascots for Fit India Movement’s Fit India School Week initiative 2022.

The mascots are “Toofan and Toofani”.

Objective – To celebrate fitness and sports in various forms and reaffirm its importance amongst the school fraternity.

The Fit India Movement, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2019, launched its annual ‘Fit India School Week’ program in December 2019.

Exp. 14 November – World Diabetes Day

World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on November 14.

Objective – To spread awareness and education about the disease, and how to manage it.

Theme 2022 – Access to diabetes care.

It was first adopted in 1991 by the International Diabetes Foundation and the World Health Organization.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin.

At present, 10 out of 100 adults are suffering from diabetes.

National Children’s Day is celebrated every year on November 14 to honour India’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru (1947 to 1964).

The day is also known as Bal Diwas.

Children’s Day marks the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who was fondly called “Chacha Nehru” or “Chachaji” by kids.

He also established Children’s Film Society India in 1955 to create indigenous cinema exclusively for kids.
