Exp. Anamalai Tiger Reserve launched ‘jumbo trails’ in Coimbatore

The Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) has launched ‘jumbo trails’, with the aim to educate visitors to the tiger reserve about elephants, the flora, and fauna of ATR and the aboriginal tribes.

Under the programme, named ‘ATR’s Jumbo Trails- Experience the Land of Heritage Elephants’, tourists will be taken from Sethumadai to Kozhikamuthi elephant camp.

They can visit the camp, trek in the forest and have food cooked by tribals. They can also enjoy the tribal dance and music.

The programme is organised by the Advanced Wildlife Management Training Centre (Attakatti) and implemented by Keelpoonachi Eco Development Committee

The income from the initiative will be used to help tribal people.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has addressed the 21st World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) in Mumbai.

The 21st World Congress of Accountants 2022 is being hosted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in Mumbai in Hybrid mode.

This theme for the WCOA 2022 is ‘Building Trust Enabling Sustainability’.

For the first time in the 118 years of its history, the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) hosted the world congress of accountants (WCOA).

The WCOA is held once in four years.

The first meeting was held in the US city of St Louis in 1904.

Exp. India to take over Chair of Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence

India has assumed the Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) from France.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar (Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology) has represented the country at the GPAI meeting in Tokyo for the symbolic takeover from France.

GPAI is an international initiative to support responsible and human-centric development and the use of Artificial Intelligence.

AIR correspondent reports that the GPAI is a congregation of 25 member countries, including the US, UK, European Union, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, and Singapore.

India joined the GPAI in 2020 as a founding member. Artificial Intelligence is expected to add 967 billion US dollars to the Indian economy by 2035.

It is also expected to add 450 to 500 billion US dollars to India’s GDP by 2025 accounting for 10 percent of the country’s 5 trillion dollar GDP target.

Exp. Tata Power Solar Systems partnered with Union Bank of India to help MSME sector

Tata Power Solar Systems Limited (TPSSL) has partnered with the Union Bank of India (UBI) to help MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) sector switch to solar solutions.

The objective of this collaboration is to improve access to green energy and save on the cost of electricity, thus making MSMEs more profitable.

TPSSL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL).

The association will be implemented under UBI’s solar scheme called ‘Union Solar’, which was launched on a pan-India level to relieve the MSMEs from the stress of higher power costs and grid exigencies.

Exp. Goldman Sachs slashed India’s GDP forecast for 2023 to 5.9%

Goldman Sachs has slashed India’s Gross domestic product (GDP) to 5.9% in the calendar year 2023 from an estimated 6.9% in 2022.

The firm expects headline retail inflation to ease to 6.1% in 2023 from an estimated 6.8% this year, according to a Bloomberg report.

India’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 8.7% in 2021-22.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), last week, pegged the domestic growth rate at 7% for 2022-23.

Exp.  Venu Gopal Achanta elected as a Member of CIPM

Director of CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL) Venu Gopal Achanta has been elected as a Member of the International Committee for Weight and Measures (CIPM).

Prof. Gopal was declared an elected Member of CIPM during the 27th General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) meeting in Paris, France.

Prof. Achanta is among 18 elected members from different countries and the 7th personality in Indian history elected to CIPM.

Indian actor Chiranjeevi was named the India Film Personality of the Year 2022 at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Actor Chiranjeevi has acted in more than 150 films, primarily in the Telugu film industry.

He also acted in Tamil, and Hindi movies.

In 2006, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award.

Exp. 22nd edition of FIFA World Cup kicks off in Doha

The opening ceremony of the 22nd edition of FIFA World Cup 2022 kicked off at the Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor in Qatar with a cultural show amid a loud cheer from the fans.

32 top countries from five regions will be in action for the championship title. All 64 matches will be held across eight stadiums in Qatar.

The first match was held between Qatar and Ecuador.

Ecuador started its FIFA World Cup campaign with a resounding 2-0 victory against Qatar in the opening match of the tournament at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.

The world cup is being held from 21 November to 18 December 2022.

32 teams will compete across 64 matches in the 22nd edition of the World Cup.

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic has defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud to collect a record-equaling 6th ATP Finals title in Turin, Italy.

Djokovic defeated Rudd in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 to clinch the season-ending title.

This was Djokovic’s first title at the event since 2015 and the one that matches Roger Federer’s record.

The 35-year-old Djokovic is the oldest player to win the title.

He also earned the largest payday in tennis history as he walked away with $4.7 million for claiming the trophy.

German racing driver Sebastian Vettel has retired from Formula One racing

Sebastian Vettel won four Formula One World Championships between 2010 and 2013 while competing for Red Bull and previously spent six seasons with Ferrari.

In the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel finished in 10th place, the last one of his career.

Vettel received a guard of honour from his fellow competitors before the race.
