The decision was taken during the 623rd meeting of the RBI Central Board in Mumbai, chaired by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra.
RBI stated that its gross income rose by 26.42% in FY26, while net income before risk provisions increased to ₹3.95 lakh crore from ₹3.13 lakh crore in FY25.
The RBI’s balance sheet expanded by 20.61% to ₹91.97 lakh crore as of March 31, while ₹1.09 lakh crore was transferred to the Contingent Risk Buffer under the revised Economic Capital Framework.
