Exp. DGCA granted aerodrome licence to GMR Goa International Airport Mopa

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted Goa’s Mopa airport the aerodrome license to enable it to commence flight operations.

With this, Goa will now have two airports, the other airport is at Dabolim in South Goa.

The new airport at Mopa in North Goa has been built by GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Airports Ltd.

It is developing the greenfield airport at Mopa under a public-private partnership model on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis.

Exp. Haryana government makes registration of pet dogs mandatory

Amid an increase in the recent incidents of dog bites and attacks, the Haryana govt has made the registration of pet dogs mandatory in the state.

No person will be allowed to keep a dog without a licence and for this, the pet owners will have to get themselves registered on the Saral Portal.

If a person is found violating the rules, a fine of Rs 5,000 will be imposed.

The state government is also planning to introduce a provision for imprisonment for violations of rules.

Exp. Odisha CM launched first common agricultural credit portal for farmers

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched a common credit portal SAFAL’ (Simplified Application for Agricultural Loans) for the welfare of farmers.

It is India’s 1st online agricultural credit facilitation portal.

The facility will enable farmers and agri-entrepreneurs to access more than 300 term loan products of over 40 banks.

It has also been integrated with Krushak Odisha and will have access to 70-plus model project reports.

It will also provide the government with complete visibility of demand & disbursal of formal credit across the state.

Exp. Kerala government approved for coastal highway through West Kochi

The Kerala government has approved Rs 184.6 crore to acquire land for developing the Chellanam-Fort Kochi stretch of the coastal highway.

A distance of 468 km of the 624-km highway from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod will be built by the Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB).

While the rest will be built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Exp. Dabur acquired 51% stake in Badshah Masala for Rs 588 crore

FMCG firm Dabur India has signed definitive transaction agreements to acquire 51 percent shareholding of Badshah Masala in a deal of Rs 587.52 crore.

While the balance 49% of the equity share will be acquired after a period of 5 years.

Badshah Masala is a manufacturing, marketing and export firm of ground spices, blended spices, and seasonings.

This acquisition is in line with the company’s strategic intent to expand its foods business to Rs 500 crore in three years and expand into new adjacent categories.

This also marks Dabur’s entry into the over Rs 25,000-crore branded spices and seasoning market in India.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 4 projects worth over Rs 6,600 cr in Faridabad in Haryana.

The projects include the foundation stone of Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor project costing around 5,600 crore rupees and the inauguration of the Rail Coach Refurbishment Factory at  Sonipat worth  590  crore rupees which spreads over 161 acres of land.

Shah also inaugurated the elevated railway track built in Rohtak at a  cost of around 315 crore rupees and  Haryana Police Residence Complex, Bhondsi worth 105 crore rupees.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi has emerged as the world’s 10th busiest airport in October 2022, according to a report by the UK-based aviation analytics firm OAG.

Delhi airport has improved its position from 14th place in October 2019, as per the report.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the US has emerged as the busiest in the world in Oct 2022.

After Atlanta, Dubai and Tokyo Haneda airports are at the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.

The rankings by OAG are based on scheduled airline capacity in the current month and compared to the equivalent month in 2019, pre-pandemic.

Exp. Tata, Airbus to manufacture C295 transport aircraft for IAF in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for a plant in Vadodara that will manufacture the C-295 transport aircraft.

This contract is expected to support the development of India’s aerospace ecosystem, bringing investment and 15,000 skilled direct jobs and 10,000 indirect positions over the coming decade.

Indian multinational conglomerate Tata in partnership with Airbus will manufacture C-295 transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force.

For the first time, entrusted a private firm — Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) — to manufacture an entire aircraft for the military.

This is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft will be manufactured in India by a private company.

As part of the contract, 16 aircraft will be delivered in flyaway condition and 40 will be manufactured in India.

Exp. SAIL signed agreement with Airports Authority of India to facilitate commercial operations

The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has signed an agreement with the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to facilitate commercial operations from Rourkela, Odisha.

The public sector enterprise had in 2018 signed an MOU for use of its own airport, under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN, for the operation of commercial flights.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has provided financial support for the up-gradation of this airport.

The government of Odisha will provide security, fire, and ambulance services.

The commencement of air services is also important in view of the forthcoming Hockey World Cup, where 20 out of the total 44 matches are being held at Rourkela in January 2023.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) posted the proceedings of its second-quarter earnings call on the metaverse.

The announcement made Reliance the first Indian firm to use the medium to engage with its stakeholders.

The metaverse earnings call, which can be accessed through any device (even a smartphone), was produced in partnership with GMetri — a no-code metaverse creation platform.

The metaverse is a virtual space that is built with the idea to immerse users within the online experience, mainly via virtual and augmented reality, while enabling them to interact with each other virtually. Due to its ongoing evolution, the term ‘metaverse’ currently has no single definition.

Exp. India Post Payment Bank launched group accident insurance plan

India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) has launched a group accident insurance plan with an accidental death coverage of Rs 10 lakh.

It has been launched in partnership with TATA AIG and Bajaj Allianz General Insurance companies, and will offer the insurance plan at a premium of Rs 399 or Rs 396 per annum.

Anyone aged between18 and 65 years can join this insurance plan.

The policy will be issued digitally in five minutes using a smartphone or a fingerprint sensor carried by the postman under the e-KYC (Aadhaar-based) method.

Exp. SAIL crossed Rs 10,000 cr Procurement Value on GeM portal

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has crossed Rs 10,000 crore in Procurement Value on Government-e-Marketplace (GeM).

The portal was launched on August 9, 2016. Presently more than 7,400 products in about 150 product categories and hiring of transport service are available on it.

With this, SAIL has become the 1st Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) to achieve the major milestone of procurement through the GeM portal since inception.

GeM is a completely paperless, cashless and system-driven e-marketplace that enables procurement of common-use goods and services with minimal human interface.

Exp. India Navy conducted SIMBEX exercise with Singapore at Visakhapatnam

The Indian Navy hosted the 29th edition of the Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) at Visakhapatnam.

SIMBEX-2022 is being conducted in 2 phases – Harbour Phase at Visakhapatnam followed by the Sea Phase in the Bay of Bengal.

Two ships from the Republic of Singapore Navy, RSS Stalwart (a Formidable Class Frigate) and RSS Vigilance (a Victory Class Corvette) arrived in Visakhapatnam for participation in the exercise.

SIMBEX series of exercises began in 1994 and were initially known as Exercise Lion King. The scope and complexity of the exercise has risen substantially over the past two decades to include advanced naval drills covering a wide spectrum of maritime operations.

• The Indian and US militaries carried out a three-day joint humanitarian assistance exercise ‘Tiger Triumph’ in Visakhapatnam.
• NATO has begun its long-planned annual nuclear exercise “Steadfast Noon” in northwestern Europe.
• The Indian Navy has conducted a security exercise, called “Prasthan”, in the Offshore Development Area (ODA) off Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

A stroke is a medical condition that occurs when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, either partially or completely. This results in temporary or permanent damage to the brain cells.

World Stroke Day came into existence in 2006, the same year World Stroke Organization (WSO) was formed by merging the International Stroke Society (ISS) and the World Stroke Federation (WSF).

Worldwide, brain stroke is the second-leading cause of death and the third-leading cause of disability.

The average incidence rate of stroke in India is 145 per one lakh (1,00,000) population. According to researchers, three Indians suffer a stroke every minute.

October 29, 1969, was the first time a message was sent electronically from one computer to another using the Internet.

The first message was sent by a student programmer named Charlie Kline and the electronic message read ‘Lo’.
