India will join the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) and Long-Term Aspirational Goals (LTAG) from 2027.
This announcement was made in the meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Parliament of the Ministry of Civil Aviation under the chairmanship of Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
The ICAO has been tasked to reduce carbon emissions from international civil aviation as one of its focus areas. In order to mitigate carbon emissions from aviation and its impact on climate change, the global body has adopted several key aspirational goals.
Among them are a two percent annual fuel efficiency improvement through 2050, carbon neutral growth and net zero by 2050. The ICAO has clubbed them under CORSIA and LTAG.

Exp. Narayan Rane launches the revamped CGTMSE Scheme
Union Minister for MSME Narayan Rane has launched the revamped CGTMSE Scheme in Mumbai.
CGTMSE has been provided with an additional corpus support of ₹9,000 crore in the Union Budget for FY 2023-24 to revamp its Scheme to provide guarantee for additional ₹2 lakh crore to Micro & Small Enterprises.
The modifications included reduction in guarantee fees for loans upto ₹1 crore by 50% bringing the minimum guarantee fee to the level of 0.37% pa only.
Another major change announced was raising of ceiling for guarantee from ₹2 crore to ₹ 5 crore and enhancing the threshold limit for claim settlement without initiation of legal action to ₹10 lakh.

NTPC, India’s largest power producer, aims to start generating 2,000 MW of nuclear energy by 2032, 4,200 MW by 2035 and eventually scale up to 20,000 MW by 2050.

For third year in a row, Tamil Nadu has topped the list of States with the highest market borrowings.
According to RBI data, Tamil Nadu’s gross market borrowings through State Development Loans (SDLs) stood at ₹68,000 crore during April-February FY23.
Andhra Pradesh is in 2nd place with Rs 51,860 crore. Maharashtra is at 3rd place with Rs.50 thousand crore among the states that have borrowed the most in the country.
It is noteworthy that Tamil Nadu was the state that borrowed the most in the previous 2 financial years i.e. 2020-21 and 2021-22.
It has been mentioned in the information published by the Reserve Bank that Tamil Nadu had borrowed Rs.87,977 crore in the last fiscal year 2020-21 and Rs.87 thousand crore in 2021-22.
At the same time, compared to the previous financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22, the loan taken by Tamil Nadu in the financial year 2022-23 has decreased slightly, and at the same time, Tamil Nadu has received a loan below the amount recommended by the Finance Commission.

Exp. Reliance General becomes first insurer to accept CBDC
Reliance General Insurance has become the first general insurance company to accept RBI’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) e-Rupee ((e₹) for premium payments.
The insurer has tied up with YES Bank to facilitate the collection of premiums in digital mode using the bank’s e-rupee platform.
Customers who have an active e-rupee wallet with any bank can scan Reliance General Insurance’s CBDC QR code to make easy, safe, instant, and green payments.
e-rupee is a digital token, equivalent to a banknote, and is legal tender or sovereign currency backed by the RBI. It removes all the issues of handling physical cash and offers the same anonymity as a banknote.
Currently, Reliance General Insurance’s physical e-rupee QR code is available at select branches for walk-in customers to scan and pay instantly. It plans to make it available at all branches across the country, on its website, and on the Reliance Self-i app in the next few months.

The gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection increased 12% in April 2023 to Rs 1.87 lakh crore.
It is the highest monthly mop-up since the inception of the indirect tax regime in July 2017.
The gross GST revenue collected in the month of April, 2023 is ₹ 1,87,035 crore of which CGST is ₹38,440 crore, SGST is ₹47,412 crore, IGST is ₹89,158 crore (including ₹34,972 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is ₹12,025 crore (including ₹901 crore collected on import of goods).
The government has settled ₹45,864 crore to CGST and ₹37,959 crore to SGST from IGST.
The total revenue of Centre and the States in the month of April 2023 after regular settlement is ₹84,304 crore for CGST and ₹85,371 crore for the SGST.
The revenues for the month of April 2023 are 12% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year. During the month, the revenues from domestic transactions (including import of services) are 16% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year.
