Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared Mangarh Dham in Rajasthan as national monument and paid tributes to the tribals who were massacred by the British army in 1913 in Mangarh

The Dham, a memorial for around 1,500 tribals massacred by the British army in 1913, is located in the Banswara district on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border, a region with a large tribal population.

The gathering of tribals in 1913 in Mangarh against the British was led by social reformer Govind Guru.

Exp. West Bengal’s Lakshmir Bhandar scheme bagged SKOCH Award

West Bengal government’s Lakshmir Bhandar scheme has bagged the SKOCH award 2022 in the women & child development category.

West Bengal launched the scheme in 2021 to provide financial support to a woman head of a family in the age group of 25-60 years.

Under the scheme, Rs 500 & Rs 1,000 per month are given to women of the General & SC/ST categories respectively.

The state government incurs an expenditure of around Rs 11,000 crore annually to fund the scheme.

Exp. India’s first Aqua Park established in Arunachal Pradesh

The Central Government has approved the establishment of India’s first-ever ‘Integrated Aqua Park’ at Tarin (Ziro) in the Subansiri District of Arunachal Pradesh.

The ambitious project is sanctioned under the CSS Component of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. The overall cost is Rs. 50 crores and Central’s share is of Rs. 45.11 crores.

PMMSY (launched in 2019) aims to establish a robust fisheries management framework in the country.

The fish museum will be part of India’s first-ever ‘Integrated Aqua Park’ which has been approved by the central government.

The fish museum will be part of the Integrated Aqua Park which is sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Fisheries. The fish museum in Arunachal Pradesh will have all kinds of fish species from the state. It will also serve as a training center for the fisherfolk.

Exp. UP’s Ranipur Tiger Reserve becomes 53rd tiger reserve of India

The Ranipur Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh has become the 53rd tiger reserve in India.

The Ranipur Tiger Reserve in the Chitrakoot district of UP is the fourth in the state after Dudhwa, Pilibhit and Amangarh.

The reserve will span across 529.89 square km, with a 299.58 sq. km buffer zone and 230 sq. km core area.

The Ranipur Tiger reserve in the Bundelkhand region of UP is just 150 km from the Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh and is home to tigers, leopards, sloth bears, sambar, spotter deer, chinkara and several birds are reptiles.

Sanctuary in Chitrakoot district has no tigers of its own.

According to the latest tiger census conducted in 2018, India has 2,967 tigers, including 173 in UP.

PM Modi has addressed the inaugural function of Invest Karnataka, the Global Investors Meet’ via video conferencing.

The three-day program is being held in Bengaluru, witnessing more than 80 speaker sessions.

Exp. GST revenues crossed Rs1.51 lakh crore in October

GST revenue collected for the month of October was the second-highest ever, next only to the April 2022 collection.

In October, Rs 1,51,718 crore has collected by the government.

Out of this,

CGST – Rs 26,039 crore

SGST – Rs 33,396 crore

IGST – Rs 81,778 crore (including Rs 37,297 crore collected on import of goods)

Cess – Rs 10,505 crore (including Rs 825 crore collected on import of goods).

GST revenues have been over Rs 1.4 lakh crore mark for the eighth time in a row and for the ninth time overall.

E-way bills generated in September were 8.3 crores, higher than August’s 7.7 crore e-way bills.

The highest GST collections in a month were recorded in April 2022, at Rs 1,67,540 crore.

Exp. VR Krishna Gupta appointed as Chairman of BPCL

Vetsa Rama Krishna Gupta has assumed the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).

He has replaced Arun Kumar Singh, who superannuated on 31st October 2022.

Gupta joined BPCL in August 1998 and has a well-rounded experience across Finance functions covering Commercial Finance, Corporate Accounts, Risk Management, Business plan, Budgeting, Treasury operations, etc.

Presently, he is serving as a Board member in BPRL and Fino Paytech Limited.

Exp. M T Vasudevan Nair received Kerala’s first highest state-level award

Malayalam literary stalwart and Jnanpith laureate M T Vasudevan Nair has been selected for the first ‘Kerala Jyothi’ award instituted by the Kerala government.

Malayalam megastar Mammootty, Delhi-based Malayalam playwright Omcheri N N Pillai and former civil servant and social worker T Madhava Menon have been selected for the first ‘Kerala Prabha’ awards.

Amphibian biologist Sathyabhama Das Biju (Dr. S D Biju), magician Gopinath Muthukad, sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman, industrialist Kochouseph Chittilappilly, scientist M P Parameswaran and singer Vijayalakshmi have been selected for the first ‘Kerala Sree’ awards.

Last year, the Kerala government had decided to institute the highest state-level awards, on the model of Padma awards.

It was decided to institute awards in three categories — ‘Kerala Jyothi’, ‘Kerala Prabha’ and ‘Kerala Sree’.

Exp. Kerala to host Track Asia Cup 2022

Kerala is all set to host the Track Asia Cup-2022 cycling tournament, one of the biggest cycling events, at the LNCPE outdoor velodrome near from November 25 to 28.

Around 200 cyclists from over 25 countries in Asia will take part in the event, which is being conducted outside Delhi for the first time.

Track Asia Cup Cycling 2022, which is sanctioned by Asian Cycling Confederation and Cycling Federation of India, will be held at the LNCPE’s 333.333-meter concrete Velodrome.

Track Asia cup is also the selection of Asian countries for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Cycling giants such as China, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan among others will be the star attraction of this event.

Apart from these countries, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will compete with India.

Exp. Zojila Day commemorated at Zojila War Memorial

Zojila Day was commemorated at Zojila War Memorial near Drass on November 1, 2022.

It was commemorated to celebrate the gallant action by Indian troops in ‘Operation Bison’ in 1948 which was launched on the icy heights of Zojila pass, the gateway to Ladakh.

This battle was also historic for the reason that tanks were used for the first time at such heights.

Exp. SEWA founder and Gandhian Ela Bhatt passed away

A noted Gandhian, and founder of the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) Elaben Bhatt passed away at the age of 89.

She was the Chairperson of Sabarmati Ashram and recently resigned as the Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi-founded Gujarat Vidhyapith.

In 2007, she joined the group of world leaders called the Elders (founded by Nelson Mandela) to promote human rights and peace across the world.
