BHAVYA Portal Launched to Develop 100 Industrial Parks
- Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the BHAVYA Portal to accelerate the development of 100 investment-ready industrial parks across India, featuring multimodal connectivity, digital governance, and sustainable infrastructure.
- Approved by the Union Cabinet with an outlay of ₹33,660 crore, BHAVYA is the flagship programme for creating world-class industrial parks over six years, aimed at strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem and attracting investments.
- The portal will serve as a single digital interface for project submission, evaluation, monitoring, and reporting, while supporting plug-and-play infrastructure, faster clearances, logistics efficiency, and dedicated spaces for startups and innovation-driven enterprises.
Jitendra Singh Launches Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow
- Union Minister of State for Science & Technology Jitendra Singh and Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the new Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Lucknow to strengthen weather monitoring, forecasting, and early warning services in North India.
- India’s meteorological infrastructure has expanded significantly, with the number of Doppler Weather Radars increasing from 17 in 2014 to 50 currently, and another 50 planned under Mission Mausam, taking the total close to 100 within the next two years.
- Uttar Pradesh has witnessed major improvements in weather observation infrastructure, with Doppler Weather Radars rising from 1 to 3, Automatic Weather Stations from 59 to 107, Rain Gauge Stations from 132 to 140, and Lightning Sensors from 0 to 7.
TCS Signs Multi-Year IT Modernisation Deal with Canada Life
- Tata Consultancy Services has signed a multi-year agreement with Canada Life to modernise IT infrastructure services across Canada Life’s European operations.
- Under the partnership, TCS will use its AI and digital capabilities to modernise and manage data centres, core infrastructure, end-user computing, and software lifecycle management, supporting Canada Life’s long-term technology transformation.
- TCS will expand its infrastructure services talent base across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Isle of Man, and Germany, while investing in employee learning, certifications, and career development opportunities.

India Records 7.7% GDP Growth in Financial Year 2025-26
- India’s economy maintained strong momentum in FY 2025-26, with real GDP growth estimated at 7%, up from 7.1% in FY 2024-25, while the economy’s size expanded to over ₹323 lakh crore.
- The Primary Sector recorded 3.2% growth, driven mainly by strong performance in the agriculture and fisheries sectors, while manufacturing, trade, hotels, transport, communication, broadcasting-related services, and real estate achieved double-digit growth.
- In the fourth quarter (January–March 2026), real GDP grew by 7.8%, with the Secondary and Tertiary sectors emerging as the key drivers of economic expansion and Gross Value Added (GVA) growth.
India Records Current Account Surplus of $7.1 Billion in Q4 FY 2025-26
- According to the Reserve Bank of India, India registered a current account surplus of $7.1 billion (0.7% of GDP) in the January–March quarter (Q4) of FY 2025-26.
- For the full financial year 2025-26, India recorded a current account deficit (CAD) of $25.2 billion, equivalent to 0.6% of GDP, compared to $22.9 billion (0.6% of GDP) in FY 2024-25.
- Net services receipts rose to $60.4 billion in Q4 FY 2025-26 from $53.3 billion a year earlier, driven by growth in computer and business services exports, although the merchandise trade deficit widened to $83.4 billion from $59.3 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
SoftBank Sells 3.25% Stake in Lenskart for ₹2,873 Crore
- SoftBank Group, through its affiliate SVF II Lightbulb (Cayman) Ltd, sold a 3.25% stake in Lenskart Solutions via an open market transaction.
- The transaction involved the sale of 5.65 crore shares of Lenskart on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
- The shares were sold at an average price of ₹508.55 per share, resulting in a total deal value of approximately ₹2,873 crore.

Saurabh Vijay Appointed CEO of India AI Mission
- The Union Government has appointed Saurabh Vijay as the new CEO of the India AI Mission. He is a 1998-batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre.
- Saurabh Vijay will hold the additional charge of India AI Mission CEO while continuing as CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India. The position had been vacant since the departure of Abhishek Singh.
- The government has also appointed Priyank Bharti, a 2001-batch IAS officer, as Chairperson of the Online Gaming Authority. He currently serves as Director General of the National Informatics Centre.

- The Kazakh Grandmaster finished as champion despite losing her final classical game to reigning Women’s World Champion Ju Wenjun, ending Assaubayeva’s unbeaten run in classical games during the tournament.
- Zhu Jiner claimed second place after defeating Humpy Koneru, while defending champion Anna Muzychuk finished third after a final-round victory over Divya Deshmukh.

Veteran Film Producer Pahlaj Nihalani Passes Away at 76
- Pahlaj Nihalani, veteran film producer and former chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), passed away in Mumbai at the age of 76. He began his producing career with the film Haathkadi.
- Appointed CBFC Chairperson in 2015, Nihalani introduced stricter film certification guidelines during his tenure. Current CBFC Chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati expressed condolences on his demise.
