India Named ‘Country of the Year’ at BIOFACH 2026 in Germany
- India has been designated ‘Country of the Year’ at BIOFACH 2026, the world’s leading trade fair for organic products, held in Nuremberg, Germany.
- India’s participation at the event is being coordinated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) to promote the country’s organic agri-exports.
- Five GI-tagged rice varieties—Indrayani, Navara, Gobindbhog, Red Rice, and Chak Hao (Black Rice)—will be highlighted, along with live food tastings

Telangana Launches ‘Aikam’ to Boost AI Ecosystem and Global Innovation
- The Telangana Government has launched Aikam, an autonomous organisation to promote the AI ecosystem in the state, focusing on workforce upskilling, supporting AI startups, offering compute infrastructure, and establishing a dedicated AI Fund-of-Funds.
- Aikam aims to position Telangana as a top-20 global innovation hub, inviting international partners to set up pilot and testing facilities in the state.

Assam Launches ‘Atal Vichal Agragami Assam’ Scheme to Boost Research and Innovation
- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched the Atal Vichal Agragami Assam scheme to support research scholars financially, aiming to strengthen the state’s academic and innovation ecosystem.
- Under the scheme, research scholars will receive ₹25,000 per month, while Divyang research scholars will get ₹40,000 per month, helping cover expenses like research materials, fieldwork, data collection, and living costs.
- The initiative is designed to empower talent, promote high-quality research, encourage innovation, and reduce financial constraints, fostering a knowledge-driven and inclusive academic environment in Assam.

Gujarat Govt signs Letter of Intent with Starlink to achieve ‘Digital India’ vision
- The Government of Gujarat has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet subsidiary, to boost high-speed digital connectivity across the state.
- The initiative aims to provide reliable satellite-based internet to Gujarat’s remote, tribal, and border regions, linking Common Service Centres (CSCs), e-Governance facilities, Primary Health Centres, and tele-medicine hubs.
- The collaboration will enhance digital infrastructure in government schools, ports, and wildlife sanctuaries, with a Joint Working Group formed to oversee capacity building, disaster management integration, and robust district-level digital networks.
SBI Crosses ₹10 Lakh Crore Market Capitalisation, Joins Elite Club of India’s Top Firms
- State Bank of India (SBI) crossed the landmark of ₹10 lakh crore market capitalisation, becoming the sixth Indian company to achieve this milestone.
- SBI joined the elite ₹10 lakh crore mcap club, which includes Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and ICICI Bank.
- SBI’s market capitalisation stood at around ₹10.4 lakh crore, surpassing ICICI Bank (₹10.03 lakh crore), while HDFC Bank remains the most valuable bank with approximately ₹14.47 lakh crore mcap.

- Moody’s Ratings has projected India’s real GDP growth at 6.4% for the Financial Year 2026-27, marking it as the fastest among G20 economies.

SEBI Approves IIFL Capital Subsidiary at GIFT IFSC
- IIFL Capital Services Limited has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from SEBI to set up a wholly owned subsidiary at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City – International Financial Services Centre (GIFT IFSC).
- The proposed entity, named IIFL Capital Services (IFSC) Limited or IIFL Capital (IFSC) Limited, will operate as a separate legal entity.

RBI Approves R. Vijay Anandh as New MD & CEO of City Union Bank
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of R. Vijay Anandh as the new Managing Director & CEO of City Union Bank, effective May 1, 2026, for a period of three years, subject to shareholder approval.
- Vijay Anandh is currently serving as the Executive Director (ED) at City Union Bank and was earlier appointed as Executive President in 2023 before being designated as ED in 2024.
- He will succeed N. Kamakodi, who has been serving as MD & CEO since May 2011, with his term ending on April 30, 2026.
