8th Poshan Pakhwada Launched to Boost Nutrition and Early Childhood Development Awareness
- The Ministry of Women and Child Development launched the 8th edition of Poshan Pakhwada from April 9 to April 23, 2026, to promote nutrition awareness and early childhood development.
- The theme for 2026 is “Maximising Brain Development in the First Six Years of Life”, highlighting the importance of the first 1,000 days and early childhood care.
- The initiative is part of POSHAN Abhiyaan, under which over 150 crore awareness activities and 9.8 crore community events have been conducted.
- The campaign is implemented nationwide through Anganwadi centres and frontline workers (ASHA, ANM), focusing on maternal and child nutrition, breastfeeding, and community participation.
Rajnath Singh Inaugurates Unnat Krishi Mahotsav Showcasing Modern Agri Technologies
- Rajnath Singh inaugurated the three-day Unnat Krishi Mahotsav in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, showcasing modern agricultural technologies like drones, solar pumps, and micro-irrigation.
- The festival features expert interactions with farmers on 20 topics, including AI in agriculture and integrated farming, with participation from over 300 exhibitors and expected attendance of 50,000+ farmers.
Gujarat Police Launches ‘NARIT AI’, India’s First AI Tool for Narcotics Investigations
- Gujarat Police has launched an AI-based tool ‘NARIT AI’ (Narcotics Analysis and Retrieval Augmented Generation-based Investigation Tool) to strengthen narcotics investigations.
- It is India’s first-of-its-kind AI system designed to assist investigations under the NDPS Act, 1985.

Deakin University and Telangana Govt Sign MoU to Boost AI Research and Innovation
- Deakin University and the Government of Telangana, through its AI hub AIKAM, signed an MoU in Hyderabad to advance applied artificial intelligence.
- The partnership will establish the Aikam-Deakin Hub for Research in Intelligent Technology & Innovation (Aikam-DHRITI) focusing on AI research, innovation, and collaboration.

Tata Power Partners CORE to Upskill Workforce in Wind Energy Operations and Maintenance
- Tata Power has partnered with the Centre of Renewable Energy (CORE), the training arm of POWERCON Group, to upskill its workforce in wind turbine Operations and Maintenance (O&M).
- The training programme is structured in three phases, covering theoretical learning, hands-on field training at wind sites, and advanced diagnostics including data analytics and asset performance management.
- Participants will gain practical exposure at POWERCON’s Centre for Engineering Excellence (CFEE), working on turbine simulations, power systems, and component-level repairs.
- The programme also includes training at the Energy Studio, focusing on real-time operations and analytics of wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

RBI Unveils ‘Utkarsh 2029’ Strategy Framework to Strengthen Digital Finance and Global Role
- The Reserve Bank of India has launched its medium-term strategy framework ‘Utkarsh 2029’ for the period April 2026 to March 2029.
- It builds upon the earlier Utkarsh 2.0 (2023–2025) and will guide RBI’s future policies and strategic priorities.
- The framework is based on six pillars: robust regulation, customer-centric and inclusive finance, competitive markets, effective technology, a future-ready organisation, and Global India.
- RBI plans to expand Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), promote cross-border payments, and modernise currency management through Project Sa-Mudra with increased digitisation.

ADB Projects India’s GDP Growth at 6.9% for FY27
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has projected India’s GDP growth at 6.9% for FY 2026–27, lower than 7.6% for FY 2025–26, while expecting a rebound to 7.3% in FY 2027–28.
- ADB’s forecast of 6.9% for FY 2026–27 is higher than the World Bank’s estimate of 6.6% and is aligned with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) projection of 6.9%.

India’s Retail Inflation Rises to 13-Month High of 3.4% in March
- India’s retail inflation (CPI) increased to 4% in March, marking a 13-month high, compared to 3.2% in February.
- The rise in inflation was reported by the National Statistical Office (NSO), indicating a slight uptick in consumer prices during the month.
