Anurag Thakur launches trailer of animated series KTB- Bharat Hain Hum

  • Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has launched the trailer of enthralling animated series ‘Bharat Hain Hum’ in New Delhi.
  • While addressing the launch of the ‘Krish, Trish and Baltiboy – Bharat Hain Hum’ series, Anurag Thakur said, “After independence, schools taught about some selective people but there were a lot of people who had a major role in our freedom struggle like Birsa Munda, Rani Abbakka and others, students are unaware of them. From where should people know what has happened in the country? There are many names, like (Rani Abbakka).”
  • This is a beautiful animation series that will provide information about India. Efforts have been made to ensure that language should not be a barrier.
  • A unique effort has been made here that this has been made in 12 Indian languages and 7 international languages so that not only the country but the world should also know about unsung heroes.
  • Central Bureau of Communication to earn revenue for first time with this series.

16th edition of Landscape and Gardening Expo 2023 in Mumbai

  • The 16th edition of Landscape and Gardening Expo 2023 was inaugurated by actress Varsha Usgaonkar in Mumbai.
  • This is the first time that Mumbai is hosting such an expo that will see participation from firms dealing in horticulture development, Darjeeling orchid plants, bonsai, ornamental flowers, green roof systems, nursery products, soil substitutes, etc.
  • To add value a ‘Global Conference on Urban Green Living Concepts’ has also been planned for the Landscape, Golf Courses, and Sports Infrastructure industry.
  • With an aesthetically appealing landscape, trees, and potted plants being high in demand in Mumbai and its suburbs, the expo aims to promote the idea of green living and popularize the concept of vertical gardening.
  • The three-day expo, being held at the Bombay Exhibition Center, NESCO in Goregaon has been jointly organized by the gardens department of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, World Council on Urban Green Living Concepts, and Tree Culture.

Bihar CM launches Rabi Mahabhiyan-2023

  • Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has launched the Rabi Campaign-2023 and flagged off the campaign chariots to all the districts of the state by showing a green flag.

8th edition of Ladakh Zanskar festival Inaugurated

  • Commissioner Secretary Tourism & Culture UT Ladakh, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan has inaugurated the 8th edition of the two-day Ladakh Zanskar Festival-2023 at Padum in Zanskar, Kargil.
  • The 8th edition of the Zanskar festival began with people in traditional attire and exhibition stalls displaying traditional cuisine, attire, lifestyle, ethnicity, and unique Zanskar culture.
  • The festival aimed to support traditional folk artists, cultural performers, handloom and handicraft artisans, traditional nomadic life (Doksa), and traditional archery sports besides Ladakh Zanskar Festival-2023 was a celebration of culture, tradition, and unity.

Health Minister inaugurates Nagaland’s First Medical College

  • Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has inaugurated Nagaland’s first Medical College – Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) at Phreibagei in Kohima, Nagaland.
  • The institution will add strength to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of creating a healthier and prosperous India.
  • NIMSR will not only serve the purpose of providing medical education but also contribute in research and finding solutions to any rare diseases for the people of Nagaland.
  • The new medical college will also serve the people of the State by providing quality and affordable healthcare, open many opportunities in the healthcare sector, and greatly benefit the youngsters of the region.
  • In the span of the last 9 years, MBBS seats have increased from 64,000 to 1,60,000 in the country. Similarly, post-graduation seats have also doubled.

Parshottam Rupala inaugurated 10th phase of Sagar Parikrama from Chennai

  • Union Minister for Fisheries Parshottam Rupala has begun the 10th phase of Sagar Parikrama from Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
  • Sagar Parikrama is one of the ambitious projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This programme was launched with the goal of understanding the needs and the challenges of fishermen.
  • It was a great expectation to travel onboard the Indian Coast Guard ship Sujay. The ship will first land at Krishnapattinam where there will be a fish food festival. Later, the Minister will proceed to Nellore.
  • The Government will provide new equipment to the fishermen to know if they are trespassing into international waters. He said that the project would be coordinated with ISRO.

Jaishankar co-chairs meeting of 18th India-Vietnam Joint Commission

  • External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has co-chaired the meeting of the 18th India-Vietnam Joint Commission in Hanoi with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son.
  • The discussions covered cooperation in political, defense, and maritime security, judicial, trade and investment, energy, development, education and training, science and technology, and cultural domains.
  • India-Vietnam’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will only further strengthen over the coming years. They also shared perspectives on the Indo-Pacific region, commitment to global issues, and collaboration in various multilateral groupings.
  • Dr Jaishankar also jointly unveiled the commemorative stamps celebrating 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Vietnam with his counterpart.

Jharkhand CM unveils mascot ‘Juhi’ for Women’s Asian Champions 2023

  • Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, and President of International Hockey Federation Dato Tayyab Ikram have unveiled the trophy and event mascot ‘Juhi’ for the hockey Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023 at the Project Bhawan in Dhurva, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
  • The mascot, named ‘Juhi’ is inspired by the popular elephant at Betla National Park.
  • Six countries— India, Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia and Thailand – will participate in the championship to be held in Ranchi from October 27 to November 5.
  • The state is mainly known for its mineral reserves such as coal, uranium and others. There is also a pool of sportspersons here. When we started honing the skills of sportspersons, we found it more powerful than minerals.

  • Bijay Kumar Mohanty has been appointed as the Director of Finance of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA).
  • Mohanty is a senior finance professional with experience of over 25 years in the Indian power sector.
  • The appointment of Dr. Mohanty as Director (Finance) of IREDA was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
  • Mohanty has been appointed to the post for 5 years from the date he assumed charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
  • Prior to joining IREDA, he held the position of Head of Department and Senior General Manager (Finance & Accounts) at REC Limited.

UP bags award for using tele technology for mental health & counselling

  • Uttar Pradesh has bagged the third prize in operationalizing telemanas- using tele technology for mental health and counselling – on the National Mental Health Day.
  • The award was given by ministry of health and family welfare, Government of India. Mission director, National Health Mission Uttar Pradesh, Dr Pinky Joval received the award.
  • The UP team will strive to do even better and be the top state in this area in the coming year.
  • An urgent need was felt for a digital mental health network in the state to provide tele-mental health care services to the masses, with the objective to provide 24X7 mental health care services even in the remote parts of the country.
  • Due to the side effects of the Covid pandemic, mental health problems have increased among children and adolescents and today’s society is facing conditions like mental disorders and depression due to continuous use of mobile phones.

Indian Army wins gold medal in Cambrian Patrol 2023 military exercise

  • The Indian Army has won a gold medal at the Cambrian Patrol Competition 2023 International Military Exercise in Wales, UK.
  • A team from 3/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) represented the Indian Army at the prestigious Cambrian Patrol Exercise in Wales, UK, the Army said.
  • The Indian Army team participated in the event and competed against a total of 111 teams, which included 38 international teams representing special forces and prestigious regiments from around the world.
  • Exercise Cambrian Patrol, organized by the UK Army, is considered the ultimate test of human endurance and team spirit and is sometimes referred to as the Olympics of Military Patrolling among militaries in the world.
  • In the year 2021, the Indian Army also won a gold medal at the Cambrian Patrol Exercise held in the UK while competing against 96 teams including 17 international teams representing Special Forces and prestigious Regiments from around the world.

Former England captain Alastair Cook announces retirement

  • Former England captain Alastair Cook, his country’s record test run scorer, announced his retirement from professional cricket.
  • The 38-year-old left-handed opener, who retired from international cricket in 2018, played his entire county career with Essex.
  • Cook was England test captain from 2012 to 2017 and also captain for 69 one day internationals from 2010-14.
  • He scored 766 runs in seven innings during the 2010-11 Ashes tour to help England to their first series win in Australia for 24 years.

Raunak Sadhwani won FIDE World Junior Rapid Chess Championship

  • 17-year-old Raunak Sadhwani has won the U-20 World Junior Rapid Chess Championship in Sardinia, Italy.
  • Raunak scored 8.5 over 11 rounds to win the Championship ahead of Arseniy Nesterov of Russia, who scored 8.
  • Raunak became a grandmaster at the age of 13. He is the ninth youngest player in history and the fourth youngest Indian to be awarded the title.
  • Raunak – Maharashtra’s youngest and Nagpur’s only Grandmaster (GM) – helped world no. 1 Magnus Carlsen lift his maiden European title.

What is Anaesthesia?

  • Anaesthesia is given to patients before surgery or any other painful procedure. It helps treat the patients safely without causing any pain by inducing unconsciousness. There are mainly three types of anaesthesia, local, general and general anaesthesia. The medicines given result in loss of sensation.
  • Post- anaesthesia the patient may experience dry mouth, sore throat, sleepiness, muscle aches, confusion and shivering for a while.

  • The observance of this day traces its roots back to October 17, 1987, when a gathering at the Trocadero in Paris proclaimed poverty as a violation of human rights.
  • The UN General Assembly officially declared October 17 as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty through resolution 47/196 on 22 December 1992

Padma Shri awardee, Dahyabhai Shastri passes away

  • Padma Shri awardee, Dahyabhai Shastri, an Indian scholar of Sanskrit and the founder of Brahmarshi Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Nadiad, passed away.
  • He is also a former president of the Gujarat state unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
  • He was actively working towards the expansion and education of Sanskrit language throughout.
