Tamil Nadu government notifies three elephant corridors in Hosur forest division covering 10,300 hectares
- The Tamil Nadu government has notified three elephant corridors in the Cauvery North Wildlife Sanctuary in Hosur forest division, which will strengthen habitat connectivity and ensure the safe movement of elephants between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The three recognised elephant corridors are:
- Jawalagiri–Panai–Anchetty is the largest corridor, covering 6,881.47 hectares across 20.90 km.
- Jawalagiri–Ulibanda–Thaggatti covers 3,241.53 hectares across 18.50 km.
- Billikkal–Jawalagiri is the smallest corridor, extending 2.20 km and covering nearly 196 hectares.
- The three corridors collectively cover more than 10,300 hectares of reserve forest and wildlife sanctuary land.
Ladakh To Get J&K High Court Bench After President Murmu’s Approval
- President Droupadi Murmu has issued a regulation that establishes a bench of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in the Union Territory of Ladakh, paving the way for bringing higher judicial services closer to the people of the region.
- The regulation, titled ‘The Union Territory of Ladakh (Sitting of the Bench of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in Ladakh) Regulation, 2026,’ was promulgated by President Murmu on August 27 and published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary on the same day.

Bihar Launches ‘Bihar Vidya Saathi’ for 24-Hour Online Learning Support
- The Bihar Government has launched ‘Bihar Vidya Saathi’, a 24-hour one-on-one interactive learning platform for students of Classes 9 to 12, providing access to teachers, digital study materials and AI-powered learning tools.
- The platform was launched by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary through video conferencing for 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketan Model Schools across the state. Around 75,000 teachers will provide one-on-one academic support to students round the clock. Students can choose teachers according to their learning requirements.
- Objective: To promote quality education, proper guidance and stronger learning outcomes through digital technology.

NIPL, Uzbekistan’s NIPC Partner to Enable UPI Payments Across Uzbekistan
- NPCI International Payments Ltd. (NIPL) has entered into a commercial agreement with Uzbekistan’s National Interbank Processing Centre JSC (NIPC) to enable Indian travellers to make merchant payments across Uzbekistan using UPI-enabled applications.
- The agreement, signed on August 30, 2026, integrates UPI with Uzbekistan’s national interoperable QR system, UZQR, allowing Indian tourists, business travellers and students to scan UZQR codes and make direct payments from their Indian bank accounts.
- The integration is expected to enable broad UPI acceptance across retail, hospitality and service merchants in Uzbekistan, reducing reliance on cash and international cards.

Rajnath Singh lays foundation for Rs 472-crore facility to overhaul T-72, T-90 tanks in Jabalpur
- Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, performed the Bhoomi Pujan for T-Series Tanks Overhaul Project at Vehicle Factory, Jabalpur — a unit of Mini Ratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL).
- The project involves the creation of overhauling facilities for T-72 and T-90 Tanks with an estimated cost of Rs 472 crore, another milestone in the nation’s journey towards self-reliance.
- The facilities at Vehicle Factory, Jabalpur have been envisaged to overhaul 80 tanks annually to ensure timely availability of overhauled tanks to the Indian Army, further boosting its operational readiness.

NASA Launches Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope to Explore universe’s biggest mysteries
- NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has been launched from Florida, embarking on a mission to explore some of the universe’s biggest mysteries.
- With a 2.4-metre-wide primary mirror, Roman can capture an area of sky more than 100 times larger than Hubble, allowing astronomers to survey the cosmos on an unprecedented scale.
- The 4.3 billion dollar observatory is designed to revolutionise infrared astronomy. It carries a specialised instrument called a coronagraph, which can block the intense glare of stars, making it easier to observe faint objects such as exoplanets and planet-forming disks.
- Over the next five years, Roman could help scientists discover previously unseen galaxies and exoplanets while providing new insights into the nature of dark energy and the evolution of the universe.
- Named after Nancy Grace Roman, NASA’s first chief astronomer and widely regarded as the “mother of the Hubble Space Telescope.”
