Jyotiraditya Scindia Launches Mission ‘Senehjori’ to Boost Assam’s Muga Silk Sector
- Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia launched Mission “Senehjori”, a cluster-based initiative to transform Assam’s Muga silk sector into a globally competitive luxury textile ecosystem.
- The mission aims to strengthen the entire Muga silk value chain, including host-plant cultivation, silkworm seed production, weaving, branding, export promotion, digital traceability, and tourism, through coordination between the Ministry of DoNER, Government of Assam, and the Central Silk Board.
- Muga silk, the world’s only naturally golden silk and India’s first GI-tagged silk, supports around 2.6 lakh families in Assam; the mission will focus on major silk-producing districts such as Jorhat, Sivasagar, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Majuli, and Sualkuchi.
New Lizard Species Mesalina Bishnoi Discovered in Rajasthan; First Record of Genus Mesalina in India
- Scientists from the Zoological Survey of India and other institutions have discovered a new lizard species, Mesalina bishnoi, in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, marking the first confirmed record of the genus Mesalina in India.
- The newly identified lizard is a small-bodied species (39.2 mm snout-vent length) with greyish to olive-brown coloration, distinctive dorsolateral stripes, black markings behind the eyes, and irregular dark blotches with white spots.
Union Cabinet Approves Key Aviation, Clean Mobility and Infrastructure Initiatives
- The Union Cabinet approved a one-time budgetary support of ₹10,000 crore for Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to stabilize Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices for Indian airlines amid fuel price volatility caused by the West Asia crisis. The support mechanism will remain in force for 36 months.
- A ₹9,585 crore scheme was approved to replace old BS-IV and earlier trucks and buses in the Delhi-NCR region with BS-VI or electric vehicles, aiming to reduce air pollution and promote cleaner mobility. The scheme targets the replacement of around 2 lakh trucks and 16,000 buses.
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the construction of a new 163-km coastal highway in Odisha between Rameshwar and Paradeep at a cost of over ₹8,300 crore, which is expected to reduce travel time by about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- CCEA also approved the four-laning of the Khagaria–Purnea section of NH-31 and NH-231 in Bihar at a cost of over ₹3,936 crore, enhancing connectivity to major economic, social, and logistics hubs across the state.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh Launches AI-Enabled CPGRAMS Voice Chatbot ‘SAMADHAN DIDI’
- Union Minister Jitendra Singh launched SAMADHAN DIDI, an AI-powered voice chatbot for CPGRAMS, enabling citizens to register public grievances through an interactive conversational interface.
- The multilingual chatbot supports all 22 scheduled Indian languages and uses AI-based categorisation to automatically route grievances to the appropriate Ministry or Department, improving accessibility and efficiency.
- Developed by DARPG in collaboration with Bhashini, SAMADHAN DIDI allows grievance registration through voice or text, strengthening inclusive governance and making the grievance redressal process faster, smarter, and citizen-friendly.
Navachar Mantra Launched to Support Grassroots Innovators and Entrepreneurs
- Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary launched ‘Navachar Mantra’ in New Delhi, a flagship national programme aimed at identifying, mentoring, and scaling grassroots innovators and entrepreneurs across India.
- The initiative will provide mentorship, industry connections, funding opportunities, pilot projects, and market access, helping innovators transform their ideas into impactful and scalable ventures.
- Registrations are now open on the Skill India Digital Hub, with the programme expected to strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem and promote inclusive entrepreneurship, particularly in smaller cities and towns.
Fairwood Nuclear and SK Securities Partner for Advanced Nuclear Projects in India
- Fairwood Nuclear Pvt. Ltd. and South Korea’s SK Securities Co. Ltd. signed a strategic collaboration agreement to support the development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and Micro Modular Reactors (MMRs) in India.
- The partnership will focus on project development, financing, investor outreach, fundraising, and industry engagement to accelerate advanced nuclear energy projects in the country.
- The three-year agreement leverages SK Securities’ global network in the nuclear, infrastructure, and financial sectors, helping strengthen India’s future clean energy and advanced nuclear power ecosystem.
Varanasi to Host Second BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting
- Varanasi will host the second BRICS Culture Working Group meeting, bringing together senior diplomats, policymakers, and cultural experts from 11 countries, including China, Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Indonesia.
- The meeting highlights Varanasi’s growing role as an international diplomatic and cultural hub, following its successful hosting of several G20 events.
- A special exhibition of GI-tagged and ODOP products of Kashi will be organized, providing local artisans an opportunity to showcase Varanasi’s rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship to global delegates and markets.

ICC Suspends Cricket Canada’s Membership Over Governance Breaches
- The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended the membership of Cricket Canada due to breaches of its membership obligations.
- Despite the suspension, Canada’s national cricket teams will remain eligible to participate in ICC events, with funding for team operations being provided through a controlled mechanism by the ICC.
- The suspension follows an ICC Anti-Corruption Unit investigation and allegations of corruption, match manipulation, and threats of violence within Cricket Canada highlighted in a documentary aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

DRDO & IAF Successfully Test RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missile
- DRDO and the Indian Air Force successfully conducted flight tests of the indigenously developed RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missile from an airborne platform under extreme release conditions.
- The missile accurately struck a predefined target with pinpoint precision, and all test objectives were successfully achieved, as confirmed by data collected from various instruments at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur.
- RudraM-II was developed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, in collaboration with several DRDO laboratories, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and other defence and industry partners.
India Receives Fourth S-400 Air Defence Squadron
- India has received the fourth squadron of the Russian-made S-400 Triumf air defence system, enhancing the country’s long-range air defence capabilities under the $5.43 billion India-Russia deal signed in 2018.
- The S-400 will be integrated with AI-enabled decision-support features, helping operators identify, prioritise, and respond more effectively to threats such as ballistic missiles, combat aircraft, drones, and cruise missiles.
- Of the five S-400 regimental systems ordered, four have now been delivered, while the final squadron is expected to arrive in 2027, further strengthening India’s layered air defence network along its western and northern borders.
