Exp. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chauri Chaura centenary celebrations at Chauri Chaura in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh through video conferencing on February 4, 2021. The Prime Minister also released a postal stamp dedicated to mark the beginning of centenary celebrations of the Chauri Chaura incident. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present on the occasion.

Exp. Aero India 2021 is being organised at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru by the Department of Defence Production of the Defence Ministry from February 3 to 5, 2021. Its theme is: ‘A Runway to a Billion Opportunities’.

The three-day event will focus on India’s indigenous defence sector capabilities.

Exp. Defence minister Rajnath Singh will host a meeting of his counterparts from countries in the Indian Ocean Region on 4th Feb with an eye to boosting India’s role as a security partner of choice as well as securing markets for India-made defence hardware.

The one-day meeting of the Indian Ocean Region defence ministers is taking place on the sidelines of the Aero-India show in Bengaluru.

The broad theme of the conclave is ‘Enhanced Peace, Security and Cooperation in the Indian Ocean’.

Exp. The MoU was signed at Aero India 2021. Airbus and GMR Group will team up to explore potential synergies in several strategic areas of aviation services, including maintenance, components, training, digital and airport services.

As part of the MoU, Airbus and GMR will collaborate to explore a broad scope of aviation services both for commercial and military aircraft to benefit the entire aerospace ecosystem in the country.

Exp. The 16th edition of Indo-US joint military exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas’ will be held in Rajasthan between February 8 and 21.

The exercise near the India-Pakistan border aims at enhancing cooperation and interoperability between the two armies and will focus on counter-terrorism operations under the United Nations mandate.

Exp. CBI Additional Director Praveen Sinha, a 1988-batch Gujarat cadre IPS, has been appointed acting chief of the agency till a decision on a new director is taken to succeed Rishi Kumar Shukla who retired on February 3, 2021 after a two-year fixed stint.

The CBI director is chosen by a high-powered committee of the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and Chief Justice of India.

Exp. Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu has been appointed to the reconstituted National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) led by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. The members of NSAB typically have two-year terms.

Other new members in this term include former ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan, Anshuman Tripathy, faculty at IIM Bangalore, and Arun K. Singh, former ambassador to France and the United States.

Exp. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will leave his post later this year, turning the helm over to the company’s top cloud executive Andy Jassy.

Jassy joined Amazon in 1997 and has led Amazon’s Web Services cloud team since its inception.

Exp. Ajay Singh has been elected as the President of Boxing Federation of India (BFI) for the second consecutive term on 3rd Feb.

During the general elections held in the city hotel here in Gurugram today, Ajay Singh defeated challenger Ashish Shelar by a margin of 10 votes as he won 37-27 in the final counting.

Exp. Fast bowler Ashok Dinda, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 36-year-old right-handed pacer made his first-class debut for Bengal in 2005 and played for 15 years in Bengal cricket.

He made his international debut in 2009, in a T20I against Sri Lanka, followed by making his ODI debut in Zimbabwe in 2010. He played 13 ODIs and 9 T20I matches for India.
