♦Assam CM launched Mukhyamantrir Grammya Paribahan Achoni

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on 23^rd September launched the Mukhyamantrir Grammya Paribahan Achoni and distributed vehicles under the scheme to beneficiaries at a programme held at Assam Administrative Staff College by transport department.
Aim: The scheme aims to improve rural connectivity and generate employment in the villages. Under the scheme, the eligible entrepreneurs will be assisted financially with 25 per cent of the cost of the vehicle by the State government or Rs 1 lakh, whichever is less.

♦Somalia’s president appoints Mohamed Hussein Roble as new prime minister

Somali President Mohamed Farmaajo appointed Mohamed Hussein Roble as the country’s new prime minister on 22nd September.
He will replace former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre, who was voted out of office by parliament in July.

♦UN and United Kingdom to co-host Global Climate Summit 2020

The United Kingdom and the United Nations are going to co-organise a global climate summit on December 12, 2020, to mark the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement in 2015. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will co-host the event.
The summit will increase the momentum ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) to be held in Glasgow, Scotland in November 2021.
Aim: The Summit will invite National governments to present more ambitious and high-quality climate plans.

♦Odisha’s Krushi Bhawan Considered As ‘People’s Choice Winner’ At AZ Awards

Odisha’s newly constructed architectural marvel Krushi Bhawan has won the People’s Choice Award in the ‘Social Good Category’ at AZ Awards 2020. The Krushi Bhawan was the only project from India at the globally acknowledged prestigious award.
Odisha’s Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted and dedicated the award to the farmer and artisans of Odisha who is the influence behind the design of the Krushi Bhawan.

♦Kerala Tourism’s Human by Nature campaign won PATA Grand Award

Kerala Tourism’s internationally-acclaimed ‘Human by Nature’ campaign won the prestigious PATA (Pacific- Asia Travel Association) Grand Award 2020 for Marketing. This gives a huge stimulus to tourism industry in the state which has been severely affected due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Awards were announced during a virtual presentation ceremony in Beijing.

♦EESL appoints Rajat Sud as its new Managing Director

A Joint Venture (JV) of Public Sector Undertakings, under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has appointed Rajat Sud as its new Managing Director from immediate effect.
He takes charge from S Gopal, director (commercial), who was given the additional charge as interim MD.

♦India successfully Fire tested Prithvi II Missile

India successfully test fired the Prithvi II missile which was developed indigenously. The test was conducted at the Chandipur Integrated Test Range, Odisha.

The missile attained the range of 350 km. The test fire was a routine exercises. Electro optical tracking systems, radars and telemetry stations of Defense Research and development Organizations (DRDO) traced the trajectory of the missile.

♦25 September: World Pharmacist Day

World Pharmacist Day is observed globally on 25th September every year. This day is celebrated to create awareness about the role of a pharmacist in improving health.
The day was an initiative of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) along with the council of this organization.

♦Legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam Passes Away

Legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away on September 25 at the age of 74.
SP Balasubrahmanyam Indian music has lost one of its most melodious voices. Called ‘Paadum Nila’ or ‘Singing Moon’ by his countless fans, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan and many National Awards.
