♦Government launches Covid-19 tracking app Aarogya Setu

• The government has officially launched its app to track Covid-19 patients in the country. The Aarogya Setu app is available on both Android and iOS devices.
• Launched under the banner of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY), the app seems to have replaced the Corona Kavach app that MeiTY had brought out earlier.
• The app lets users check whether they have been in contact with infected people by using location and bluetooth data from smartphones. Aarogya Setu is available in 11 languages, including English, Hindi, Bangla and Marathi.

♦Fitch slashes India growth forecast to 30-year low of 2% for FY21

• Fitch Ratings on 3^rd April said it has slashed India’s growth forecast for the current fiscal to a 30-year low of 2 per cent, from 5.1 per cent projected earlier, as economic recession gripped global economy following the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

♦SBI lists $100 million green bonds on India INX

• BSE’s India International Exchange (India INX) on 2^nd April said state-owned SBI has listed green bonds of USD 100 million (about Rs 750 crore) on its debt listing platform. The bank has listed green bonds of USD 100 million under its USD 10 billion global medium term note programme on India INX’s Global Securities Market Green Platform (GSM).
• The issuance has been done in very challenging market conditions. We welcome SBI’s green bond issuance on our GSM platform,” India INX MD and CEO V Balasubramaniam said The State Bank of India (SBI) has earlier also listed its maiden green bond issuance on India INX of USD 650 million.

• A green bond is a type of fixed-income instrument that is specifically earmarked to raise money for climate and environmental projects. These bonds are typically asset-linked and backed by the issuing entity’s balance sheet, so they usually carry the same credit rating as their issuers’ other debt obligations.​

♦Govt extends tenure of NCLT acting President BSV Prakash Kumar

• The government has extended the tenure of acting President of National Company Law Tribunal BSV Prakash Kumar for another three months. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has informed the NCLT about the decision to extend the tenure to another three months or till the joining of new President.

♦Robert Weighton named world’s oldest man, aged 112

• Born on March 29, 1908, Robert Weighton has officially been confirmed as the new title holder by Guinness World Records (GWR), it was announced 1^st He scoops the title after Chitetsu Watanabe, from Japan, passed away on February 23. Born on March 5, 1907, he was 112 years and 355 days old.

♦Tony Lewis of ‘DLS method’ fame passes away

• Tony Lewis, one of the men behind the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method used in weather-affected limited-overs matches, has died aged 78.
• “Tony, alongside fellow mathematician Frank Duckworth, devised the Duckworth-Lewis method which was introduced in 1997 and adopted officially by the ICC (International Cricket Council) in 1999.
