♦AP government launches YSR ‘Sampoorna Poshana’ for women
- Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch YSR Sampoorna Poshana and YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus schemes aimed at providing nutritious food for pregnant women, lactating mothers and children, on 7th September.
- While YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus is for supplying nutritious food in 77 tribal areas covering eight ITDAs, 52 ICDS projects and 8,320 Anganwadi centres, the remaining urban and rural areas in plain lands will be covered under the YSR Sampoorna Poshana.

♦Govt launches 24X7 toll free mental rehabilitation helpline KIRAN in 13 languages
- The Centre on 7th September launched a 24X7 toll free mental rehabilitation helpline for providing psychological support to people.
- The helpline ‘KIRAN’ (1800-599-0019) was launched by Union minister for social justice and empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot.
- The helpline will offer mental health rehabilitation services with the objective of early screening, first aid, psychological support, distress management, mental wellbeing, promoting positive behaviour and psychological crisis management.
♦Andhra Pradesh retains top spot in ease of doing business 2019 ranking
- Government released the ‘State Business Reform Action Plan 2019’ (BARP) ranking which shows how Indian states have fared in enhancing Ease of Doing Business for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released the 2019 rankings in which Andhra Pradesh retained the number one ranking.

♦India, US and Israel collaborate to develop 5G tech
- India, Israel and the United States have begun collaboration in developmental area, and in next generation of emerging technologies, including a transparent, open, reliable and secure 5G communication network.
- “We are delighted to work with these partners to resolve the development challenges in the world,” according to Bonnie Glick, deputy administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said in her opening speech at the US-India-Israel virtual summit which focused on partnerships. trilateral in the strategic, technological and development fields.

♦Indian Economy To Contract 10.5% In 2020-21: Fitch
- Fitch Ratings on 8th September projected a contraction of 10.5 per cent for India’s economy in the current financial year (FY21). Fitch had earlier projected the country’s GDP to contract 5% this fiscal year.

♦India Ratings revises FY21 GDP growth projection to negative 11.8%
- Domestic rating agency India Ratings and Research, on September 8, revised the country’s FY21 GDP growth forecast to (-) 11.8 percent from (-) 5.3 percent earlier.
- The lowest GDP growth in the Indian history (GDP data is available from FY-1951) and sixth instance of economic contraction, others being in FY-1958, FY-1966, FY-1967, FY-1973 and FY-1980. The previous lowest was negative 5.2 percent in FY80.
♦TPT South Africa partners with TCS for logistics supply chain transformation
- Tata Consultancy Services has partnered with Transnet Port Terminals in South Africa to help the latter develop an integrated online marketplace platform by bringing together cargo owners, shipping lines, clearing and forwarding agents, and road/rail haulers.
- TPT is part of Transnet SOC Ltd, a state-owned freight transport and handling company.
- TPT partnered with TCS to create a new platform named ‘Cargo Connect’, which will function as an online logistics marketplace where customers can submit logistics related requests and allow service providers to bid online.

♦British Broadcaster David Attenborough Awarded Indira Gandhi Peace Prize
- Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 7th September conferred the Indira Gandhi Peace Prize on British broadcaster David Attenborough at a virtual event.
- Reason: David Attenborough was given the prize for “revealing the wonders of the natural world, educating and entertaining generations of people through his films and books for tirelessly working to awaken humankind to the need to preserve and protect the biodiversity on our planet, and advocating the necessity to live a sustainable and harmonious way of life.

♦India successfully test scramjet technology for hypersonic missiles
- India joined the elite group Russia, China, US, after successfully conducting first test flight of the indigenously developed HSTDV (Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle) from Odisha coast. This giant leap will lead to the development of hypersonic cruise missiles in future.
- HSTDV abbreviated form of Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle is an unmanned scramjet demonstration aircraft.

- International Literacy Day takes place on September 8 every year to raise awareness and concern for literacy problems that exist within our own local communities as well as globally.
- International Literacy Day was founded by proclamation of The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO, in 1966 “to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights.
