Exercise Shakti took place in Meghalaya
One of the prestigious military exercises Exercise Shakti has been commenced in Meghalaya from 13th May to 26th May 2024. The exercise Shakti is conducted between India and France.
This is the 7th edition of exercise Shakti and it is a biennial exercise conducted alternatively in India and France. The last edition of this exercise was conducted in November 2021.
H.E. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India and Major General Prasanna Sudhakar Joshi, General Officer Commanding 51 Sub Area have attended the opening ceremony of the exercise Shakti.
Indian contingent:
90 personnels majorly from the Battalion of the RAJPUT Regiment besides personnel from other arms and services are in the Indian contingent. Personnels from indian navy and indian air force are also the part of the indian contingent.
French contingent:
The French contingent comprised 90 personals majorly from the 13th Foreign Legion Half- Brigade (13th DBLE).
Significance:
The Exercise Shakti is a joint military exercise between India and France. It holds significance as it enhances the interoperability and cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.
Such exercises also serve as a platform to share best practices, tactics, and strategies, thereby strengthening the defense ties between India and France.
