Finance Literacy Week 2024 starts from 26th February-RBI

Reserve Bank of India has recently released a press release announcing the date of commencement of the Finance Literacy Week 2024 scheduled to be started from 26th February 2024 to 1st March 2024. The theme of this year’s finance Literacy Week is “Make a Right Start – Become Financially Smart”.

RBI has been observing Finance Literacy Week every year since 2016 to promote financial knowledge among the citizens. The theme of this year’s Finance Literacy Week is targeted to the youth of India and their brilliant minds. The objective of this theme is to make the new generation aware of the importance of Financial disciplines at an early age.

The theme of the Financial Literacy Week 2024 aims towards the young students to understand the advantages of inputs of the savings, budgeting, power of compounding, banking essentials and cyber hygiene.

Financial Literacy Ideathon 2024:

RBI has also announced the launch of the Financial Literacy Ideathon as a part of Financial Literacy Week campaign 2024. The Financial Literacy Ideathon majorly aims towards the young postgraduate students to contribute for bringing Financial Literacy around the every corner of India through their Innovative ideas and creative strategies.

The competition under the Financial Literacy Ideathon is open to all the postgraduate students enrolled in recognised universities and colleges excluding doctoral and postdoctoral students. Eligible aspirants and participants are required to submit an ideation paper on the following subject Money matters for young adults:Rethinking outreach strategies.

First prize in this Financial Literacy Ideathon is 1 lakh, second and third prize are 75,000 and 50,000 respectively.

Financial Literacy initiatives:

RBI has taken various initiatives for Financial Literacy around the country. Some of these initiatives are given below.

  • The official website of RBI is already a platform that provides financial Education to everyone. This website can be seen in Hindi, English and 11 other vernacular languages.
  • The National Centre for Financial Education has been set up by all Financial sector regulators to promote financial Literacy among people.
  • The National Strategy on Financial Education 2025 has been developed to promote financial Literacy nationwide.
  • RBI has also advised the commercial banks to provide Financial Literacy especially in the rural areas around the country and for this they can establish Financial Literacy centers.

Conclusion:

Financial Literacy Week has significance towards Financial Education around the country. This is an ambitious initiative of the RBI to promote financial knowledge. This year RBI is also making this financial Literacy Week more interesting and beneficial for the people.
