India is hosting two day global Buddhist summit in consultation with International Confederation (IBC) in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his speech at the inaugural session of the Global Buddhist Summit in Delhi.

Indian PM’s view on Buddhism:

PM Modi has stated that the world is facing challenges such as war, economic instability, terrorism, religious extremism and climate change and Lord Buddha’s ideas offer a solution to these problems.

The noble teachings of Gautam Buddha have transformed the lives of many people over centuries and inspired them for peace and sustainable future.

Centuries ago Buddha had given a solution for war and unrest which faces world today.

Buddha had showed a path to the world which is the future and sustainable for centuries.

PM Narendra Modi took visit to the Buddha exhibition in the national capital.

2-day Summit:

The Ministry of Culture is hosting the two-day Summit with association of International Buddhist Confederation (IBC).

The keynote speaker named Professor Robert Thurman who is a leading American expert on Tibetan Buddhism and was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2020 for his work on recovering India’s ancient Buddhist heritage, gave remarkable speech.

Theme of Global Buddhist Summit:

The theme of the Global Buddhist Summit 2023 is ‘Responses to Contemporary Challenges: Philosophy to Praxis. ‘”

The Summit is being organized to discuss the global Buddhist Dhamma leadership and scholars on matters of Buddhist and universal concerns with solution.

The discussion in the Summit has advanced the fundamental values of the Buddha Dhamma’s and inspiration and guidance in contemporary settings.


Discussion in the summit:

The followers of Buddhism and scholars of Buddhism from all over the world are participating in the two day summit.

Discussion on pressing global issues has been made with looking for answers in the Buddha Dharma that are based on universal values.

The discussions have been taken under four themes:

  1. Buddha Dhamma and Peace
  2. Buddha dharma: environmental crisis, health and sustainability
  3. Preservation of Nalanda Buddhist Tradition
  4. Buddha dhamma pilgrimage, living heritage and Buddha relics
