Government doing best on 11 parameter of Twenty point programme

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation recently released a data about twenty point programme of Government of India. Data collected from the 14 parameters tracked quarterly under the Twenty Point Programme. Data revealed that the government achieved a more than 90% target completion with remark of very good in six parameters and 80-90% in “good” category.

According to the ministry, in the April-December 2022 period, the performance in three of 14 parameters was “poor” or below 80% target. The included area has been covered under plantation (public and forest lands) and construction of roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

What is twenty point programme?

Twenty point programme was instituted by Government of India in 1975.

In this programme 20 points is being considered which are administered by various ministries of central Government and state Government.

The programme was started to eradicate poverty and improve the quality of life of the poor and the under privileged population of the country.

Achievement of target:

The target of constructing 35,385 km of roads during April-December 2022 has been achieved only 53% Under the PMGSY.

82% of the targeted 4 million houses had been constructed during April-December 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) or PMAY-G.

The government is planning to advance the deadline of PMAY-G to December 2023 from March 2024.

The allocation has been made by the Central government for the current fiscal year is Rs. 54,487 crore for the scheme which is increase of 12.5% from 2023-24.

The government averaging around 88% completion of targets under different food security programmes.

If we talk about electricity supply government has achieved its 99% of the target. Government has set up 0.51 million pump sets energised, against the target of 0.34 million during this period.

Half of the states/UTs completed the targeted around less than 40% but two states Uttar Pradesh and Odisha completed target of 90% or more.
