Heavy rain and flood in Northeastern state Assam

The constant heavy rain overflowed new areas across the Assam state and it continued to remain concern for the flood situation in Assam. Even though the flood like situation in Assam has been experienced the number of people affected from it, are limited to nearly 33,500 in 12 districts.

According to the daily flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 33,400 people are hit due to floods.

More than 37,500 people were affecting from the deluge in eight districts of Assam.

Relief Camp by administration:

Relief camp across the state has been operating by the local administration to help and protect people.  There are more than 16 relief distributions centers have been run in three districts.

Massive erosions have been showed in Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara and Udalguri districts.

Damages in the state:

According to the ASDMA, around 140 villages are under water and more than one thousand five hundreds hectares of crop areas have been discredited across Assam.

Occurrences of landslides due to heavy rainfall have been witnessed from Dima Hasao and Karimganj.

The Brahmaputra river at Neamatighat are near to full. The tributaries of Brahmaputra Puthimari and Kopili both are running with its flow above the danger marks.

India Meteorological Department issued red alert:

The India Meteorological Department gave a ‘red’ alert and predicting ‘very heavy’ to ‘extremely heavy’ rainfall across some part of Assam for the five days.

IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has released it special article over the ‘red’ alert for Sunday and Monday.

The RMC has notified an ‘orange’ alert for Tuesday and a ‘yellow’ for the subsequent two days.

‘Red’ alert stands for taking immediate action

‘Orange’ warning connotes to be prepared for action

‘Yellow’ denotes to watch and be updated.
